Dyson DC05 Motorhead bagless Dual cyclonic cylinder vacuum with HEPA+ filter and bactiguard screen!

On Wednesday 27th March 2015 at circa 8:27 PM I received a Dyson DC05 Motorheadbagless Dual cyclonic cylinder vacuum with HEPA+ filter and bactiguard screen for the bargain price of £20! It is a wonderful vacuum which works really well and I think it was a pretty good vacuum for 1998 because if it's design, it's noise level, it's user friendliness, it's technology and it's performance is adequate.

Has anybody ever tried/owned one? I would love to hear you opinions on it. I would like to purchase the upright version of this in the future which is the Dyson DC04 Zorbster. I wasn't expecting this machine to be that great but it's much better than I expected! I will now aim to improve the physical condition of it because it currently has a snapped handle which aint much of a big deal. I will also need to get a cable rewind for it aswell, reason being that the original one had some parts missing from it in an attempted repair from the previous owner!

I actually quite like the DC05 - it's a decent performer with decent build quality. The motorhead model was expensive at the time and as a result, it's one of the less common DC05's now.

Cool! I wish motorhead machines were more common TBH, they are fantastic and actually do a decent job unlike straight suction machines which don't do the job as near as well as the motorheads do.
I would love the DC21 motorhead, as it's like a DC08 but with a powerhead and the DC08 is my favourite Dyson cylinder!

Well, that's debatable, but lets not go there.


 


I quite like the DC08 too. I much prefer Dyson cylinders to their uprights. The brushroll's let the uprights down for years but this was of course never a problem with cylinders.


 


My only dislikes for Dyson's cylinders are the lack of proper on board tool storage from the DC05 onwards and the lack of variable power, which is something I value on cylinders.


 


I'm not a fan of the newer cylinders mind you. I'm not paying near £300 for any cylinder that has plastic tubes!!

Lol I personally think the older Dyson cylinders are better than the newer ones as overall machines and the newer Dyson uprights are better than the older ones as overall machines, besides the plastic being flexible and not feeling well made. The performance on there are outstanding They groom well and agitate pretty good aswell IMHO. I also agree with you about the tool sotrage, I don't like it. The DC02 and DC19/20/23 models had good tool storage, lika actual places on the back of the machine.

I have the older style DC40 Multi floor which I got for £15 and I had been using my DC14 prior to this. When I used my DC40 it picked up LOTS of dirt the DC14 feels more powerful in use though, but tha's because of the suction, the DC40 is less powerful but picks up more because of the agitation.

Yes I know, I've used the DC40 a few times.

If you recall, at the time, I said that the DC40 was the best performing Dyson to date whilst you were still telling everyone how rubbish it was.

DC05

I managed to get a DC05 'Absolute Plus' for next to nothing a few months ago, due to a cracked handle. It must be a weak point on the DC05's as I have seen pictures of them before where the handles have indeed snapped.


 


Apart from that it's been a good workhorse. My only gripe with it is the floor tool, which I do not like whatsoever. The small tools are typical Dyson tools from that time, so are rather good and flexible. From the non co-ordinating cable I can see that it has been replaced at one point, as I know that the cable can be a common problem, that means hopefully it won't need repair for a while.


 


Even though I do own other Dyson models, I do believe that the DC04 and the DC05 models were the most reliable and strongest Dyson's produced, and that's why so many are still around!

Lovely find Jacob! I agree that the Dc04is reliable, more common than DC05's tho I think.

Chris, I have changed my mind because I used to hate the DC41 after trying the early model out in my house for a week. It was just faulty I found out in the end. I have found out that the Dc41 has 255 AW, the DC04 has 230, yet the DC04 produced more suction than the bloody thing. I knew it was faulty since then, anyways it was not mine, it was a mates and he now has a DC39.

I have a DC40 now that I got for a bargain price of £15, DUH I was gonna get it!
I replaced the motor in it cos it was blown up and used it in my home. It was fantastic. Since then, I HAVE moved on and I still own the DC40 actually and am proud to own it. I am now looking to get either the DC41 mk2 or the Cinetic big ball DC75, most likely the Cinetic tho but the DC41 for it's Satin blue colour.

So yeah, I changed my mind, I hated them AGES ago.
