The Dyson I bought some weeks ago, was a DCO4 Absolute +. Today, some tinsel got into the motor, the vaccums motor noise went low, so I have no idea what next! New Motor? I'm sure twocvbloke will tell me how rubbish his was :S

The difference between what you did and I did though is vast, I was sending screws & bolts down the hole, shame it's thermal cutout thing took over when I taped up the hole, but, can't have everything...
Of course, it's more obvious on clean-air motors which have thinner, weaker blades, and if the objects get past the fan blade disc, then they get into the electrics, which can cause a bit of a bang, and a blown fuse in the plug...
Personally, I like the Photonicinduction way (no longer on youtube sadly), where he wired in a variac to the carbon brushes only, and gradually cranked up the voltage, the results were spectacular...
shame on you david and jack how could you kill a vacuum on purpose? that really makes me mad when i see people destroy vacuums on purpose. expecily on this site dedicated to vacuum loving no destroying vacuums
Gawd, my 13 year old SEBO upright just picks it all up without a problem! Nothing gets into the motor. It's great for coins, bolts and even those awful pen lids.
