Good grief! I think the winning bidder may have "buyers remorse".

I'd expect it to be re-listed due to a "time waster" pretty soon.

yes Alex i am pretty sure that i do, when my auntie moved house several years ago she bought a storage unit, after she moved most of her stuff out of it she told me i could store a few vacs in there, i only had a few crappy ones and the da001 there currently still in there, i don't expect you to believe me and i don't care if you don't you never did believe anything i said

It would be nice if Jamie could explain why he doesn't like Dyson, rather than having other members explain for him.

I like Dyson for...

There ease of use and convenience and there cool cyclonic technology but the main reason I do not like Dyson is because they are bagless, I don't mind the bagless but I much prefere bagged. The other main reason I don't like them is because they are...well... Dyson, in my opinion they took the place of every other vacuum manufacture from the bagged market which is the reason for all the other bagless cleaners, some may say well the other manufactures didn't have to go bagless, well, they did if they wanted to keep up with the market and give consumers what they wanted for half the cost of a dyson to keep there sales growing. But that is just my veiw, you may disagree.

Alex

As far as bagless cleaners go, Dyson are unrivalled. However, I firmly believe there are far higher performing, better quality and cheaper bagged cleaners available on the market. Dyson are incredibly over-rated and over priced, and there advertising is very misleading with regards to maintenance - it never ceases to amazes me how many people don't know you have to clean the filters.

Overall, they're not bad. I wouldn't buy one new in a million years and would only ever recommended them to a consumer on the basis that they absolutely insisted on a bagless cleaner

I have previously explained in great detail why I do not like Dysons, but just for you Jeff, I shall explain again.

1) Dysons do not achieve deep down cleaning in the carpet pile because the bristles are too short and soft and the brush roll lacks any beating function.

2) The "lifetime filters" advertising is a lie as when I got my DC04 (which I did not like Michael, hence my selling it after less than a month) the pre-motor filters were caked in dirt which could not be washed off.

3) To empty a Dyson (especially the models lacking a "trap door") is a very messy affair as dust always puffs out of the cyclone upon removal.

4) How many Dysons (especially DC07s) do you see on eBay with "needs new motor" in the title?

5) The build quality of the Dysons I've used (DC01, DC04 and DC07) is atrocious hence the increasing lack of DC01s in circulation.

6) The stretch hoses always split within a few years of purchase and acquiring a new one is far from cheap if you want a genuine Dyson replacement.

I could go on but don't wish to bore you.

I have nothing against people who love Dysons - good on you all, but I do not and refuse to have my mouth taped shut (metaphorically of course, though I'm sure a few members would volunteer to do it literally).

For this reason I shall continue to use my vintage Hoovers and Electroluxes which have (bar one) all original parts and work 100% as intended.

Sorry Jamie, whilst I'm with you on the dislike of Dysons, some of your reasons are absolute crap and completely invalid as, at your own admission, you have only owned one for a month.

1. the state of the filters are entirely dependant on the user. The machine even has notices written on the front of it to wash the filters, it's the responsibility of the user. Whereas I agree that cleaning the filters and emptying the unit is particularly messy and would much rather just throw a bag in a bin

2. Again, the hoses only split with incorrect use, where a user tries to repeatedly stretch the hose further than it is intended to go.  Under normal use as advised in the user manual, it should not split. Having said that, any hose on any cleaner will split with excessive use - how many split bellows have we all seen on Juniors and Seniors over the years?

3. the DC01's are still pretty common. I know of a fair few on use and HUNDREDS of them crop up on ebay. Same with the DC04's. Certainly a hell of a lot more DC01's still in daily use than there are Hoover Turbopower 2's and Lux Contours from the same period.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not singing Dyson's praises. As you know, I'm no fan of them. But a hell of a lot of what you said is ridiculous and completely invalid given that you have very little experience of using one.

"What are you talking about have you seen how many are listed on eBay?!?!" Indeed I have, but compared to 5 or 6 years ago the number has dropped drastically.

Since the DC01 was the biggest seller for Dyson (or so my memory tells me) there are naturally going to be more there but the number breaking down due to the typical "brittle plastic" is still on the rise.

On my last trip to the dump I saw three DC01s in the electricals section with broken off handles and cleaning heads.

The celaner head will of most likely just popped off as dyson floor heads are held on with cheap plastic circular clips, they head displace very easily, especially on the earlier ones.

Jamie, My Neighbour has a MASSIVE family over 16 people in a terraced 5 bedroom house, exactly like us but ours is a little bit bigger. They had 2 or 3 vax's, a cylinder bagless one, a 6131 X2 and the little pro models with the tub design and massive clips for the bucket, they all failed, then they got an Eco Autosave Henry and they said that is nice, but the performance is crap, now they got a DC33 Multi floor about a couple of months ago and they say its the best vacuum ever! I recommended the Dyson brand to them, and they chose the model. So far, the DC33 seems to want to vacuum more. it gets emptied every 3 days because of it getting full with no clogs. I love the fact they have a 5 year warranty.

My Dad's friend has a DC27 Multi-floor and uses is in a MASSIVE building, the bin gets emptied only when full I don't think he knows about the filters, they had a massive Numatic on a trolley I am sure a few years ago!

I used a DC08 for plaster, the Origin one for 4 months, used without any filter because I was fed up of the fine dust going onto the filters, so I left them out, then I left the vacuum outside and took it home a few months later I think (if memory serves me correctly)

We use Dyson's in our 3 story 5 bedroom household with loads of Family members, they are like commercial vacuums, like seriously! 3 kids, pets, they are just amazing, we had Vax, Hoover, Argos value Range, Proline, Hitachi, Morphy Richards, Electrolux, Dirt Devil, Asda smart price, Bissell, Zanussi I tried, you name it, Dyson is the best! I have used Henry at my Cousin brother's houseits a 2006 or 2007 model and it was good, used a 2012 one at denention, had less suction than I thought, crap. My Cousin brother, his mother has a Henry with a push switch and a little tiny hi lo switch, Then when my Aunty moved house, she got an Eco Henry, I tried it and Wow! Has an amazing design, HEPA flow bags are amazing! the motor is so quite, I can have a conversation by even whispering, I can use it in the bedroom when My little cousins are sleeping :) The suction was the best out of ANY Henry I used, So in my opinion, Dyson and Henry are the best vacuums
