I picked up a Dyson DC39 at the thrift store on Friday. All it needed was a good cleaning and the cyclones taken apart and blown out. What do you all think of these? My first impressions were good. I like the small head on the air driven nozzle. It's quiet and works really well on hard floors. With carpet it's a different story. The air driven nozzle is not powerful enough to deeply clean carpets. The turbo nozzle does work well on lifting dog hair from furniture.
One thing I've noticed about this Dyson is the claim is true that it doesn't lose suction during normal vacuuming. But if the user picks up anything with the slightest amount of moisture or oils (such as in animal air) the cyclones begin to accumulate with dust or in the worst case they become caked with dirt. Ideally, these probably need to be taken apart about once a year and blown out or washed. I'm not sure of the exact time frame of when the cyclones will need cleaning. It probably depends on the user and what they pickup. The Dyson DC 39 that I picked up on Friday was abused and barely had any airflow to spin the nozzle. After a good cleaning and servicing of the turbine nozzle it’s back to being almost like new.
Just thought I would share my experience.
