I have one of these!
I bought mine used off eBay for $188 with free shipping back in November 2021. I mainly did so as revenge for my dad suddenly selling our Dyson DC07 that was formerly my mom's (he was confused as to why she foisted it back to us after I surprised her with a new Hoover Air Steerable). The seller stated that the vacuum had been thoroughly cleaned inside and out. However, the brush roll was worn down and loud, so I had to buy a new, aftermarket one from PartsWarehouse.com, and that fixed the problem. There was some wear in the brush roll cavity, so the vacuum makes a loud, vibrating noise during operation. I also bought a new HEPA filter because the original one was BLACK. Additionally, I picked up a new pre-motor filter and belt; although both of those original parts weren't very worn, I decided that some new parts would breathe new life into the vacuum.
Mine came with all of the original attachments. I also bought the 3 extra tools (mini turbine head, low reach floor tool and Zorb groomer) off a different seller on eBay.
I agree with panasonicvac, the DC17 is indeed a lawn mower of a vacuum cleaner. The first time I used it on a blue rug downstairs, the brush roll frayed some fibers on the rug, which have been that way ever since. Every subsequent vacuuming hasn't made the rug any worse, thankfully. I haven't seen any adverse damage to the carpet upstairs while using this machine.
However, the machine does indeed have its flaws. The shroud clogs very easily with fine dust, and it's a pain to take apart the cyclone assembly in order to clean said shroud. The glue around the cyclone seal seems to have disintegrated, as the top cyclone assembly almost always separates from the shroud every time I remove this assembly. The whole process gets dust everywhere. Mine has a single Core Separator, so the video taught me that I have one of the later models.
Despite its flaws, the DC17 is a wonderful vacuum that easily beats the DC07 in just about every way. I have quite a bit of respect for it. I am unimpressed by the later Ball models, as those ones just feel cheap and are awkward to lock in the upright position.
