I was wanting to explore substituting a different/similar motor from my extras, for a burned-out original Oreck Dutchtech DTX1400 motor.

Anyone have any thoughts/tips/suggestions?

The original motor mount hardware seems specific to the Oreck motor. I am guessing whatever I do, I have to stabilize the motor withing the motor housing.

Hmm....maybe?

Doing a search for it It looks a lot like the motor that's in my Nilfisk GM80 I wonder if the replacement motors for those would be compatible? perhaps someone else can chime in on this

Devin,

you are a genius! That is it! I don't have a Nilfisk motor. Why in the world did I through the old motor out before making a note of the specs.

Based on the prices I have seen for Nilfisk, the motor may be more expensive than to buy another Dutchtech.

Thanks, I appreciate you!

Brian,

you may be right. I actually ordered Menalux hepa cloth bags from Norway just so I would have readymade cloth bags.

Took 2 weeks.

I'll look on their website just for kicks.

Cheers.

I think Philips called this canister the Philips “Oslo” and the model number also began with the letters TSX.

Performance Reviews did a video on how to take apart the DutchTech…I’ll post the link….

Yes, I saw that,

I will say he blocked his work during some of the video.

I think I have a plan now. The rear motor stabilizer from my parts machine, is different from the one I found on Ebay. Looks like there may have been a different motor used instead of the one I originally had.

The stabilizer I ordered, appears to be able to be used with a different style motor because the of its design.

I will see.

Still

have not located a motor in my garage to substitute for the original motor that came with the Dutchtech. I have 2 adapters and no motor. I considered opening up an older Kenmore canister (teal) but chickened out because it is in really good shape. Last year, I donated several types of motors to a friend to use at her repair shop. Now that I need one, nothing.

As for that Kenmore, I plan to clean it up and try and find a matching PN.

Wish me luck!
