DrainVac Little Giant Central Vacuum

Well I just happened to have a find of a lifetime. I picked this up yesterday from Facebook Marketplace. They originally asked $300 for it but I was able to negotiate it down to $150. It is brand new (well almost) and I don't think I'll ever find another one like this for that cheap. It works great. It does have some scratches on the outside which is one of the reasons why I talked the seller into lowering the price down. Another reason is because it is NOS so it is not one of the newer 2020 models, and it has already been purchased from ThinkVacuums.com so it is very likely that the warranty has already been registered. If so, some of the warranty years have already been wasted. And last but not least, the quality of the unit just doesn't feel like it's worth paying $700 for. I could get a OVO 700AW that's very similar to this for less than $400 but it's all metal. Overall, I'm very happy that I got this. I've always wanted one of these for a while now as these are very hard to come by in my area so I was very lucky and fortunate enough to jump on this. I'd love to find all the other models someday but I'll be enjoying this one in the mean time

Have one similar to this in my central vacuum collection.You can use this machine with disposable bags or without.

Years ago I had a drainvac model it had a good amount of power and it was very quiet the one complain I had about it was that it used a flow through motor. I just don't think flow throughs belong in central vacs. Enjoy though they're pleasant machines.

Ok so we get a Drainvac here but its basically a water filtration machine that automatically drains the tank into the sewer system. hence Drain vac . I didnt realise that they had bagged models too.


 


The problem with their drainig system is that in certain areas here  its illegal to drain anything other than human waste and water into the sewer system due to ecological issues.

No commercial vacuum is worth the cost it is sold for. They do that because companies have infinite money and can pay it no matter what cost - it means nothing to them. Charge $2,000 for a vacuum that's worth $100? Boom. Sold. They can make $2,000 in an hour.

This does look very cheaply made, and I do not know how it would last commercially. It literally looks like someone glued 2 plastic buckets together. If I paid $800 for this I'd have sent it back. It looks really delicate.

I agree, kind of like door-to-door sales. Actually I just did some digging through ThinkVacuums.com's website. The actual model of this (C15LIMITE) that they sell along with the Little Giant, is whopping $1500! There's no way I'd pay that much for this. I don't get why they have two of the exact same models but both priced differently.

I honestly don't think it's that cheaply made, it's actually not as cheap as our Eureka The Boss that we have. But I think that it can get brittle over the years. Good thing that they come with a longer warranty cause you're gonna need it! However they do have some metal power units that are under the Fusion line, at least the bottom canister is made out of aluminum. Overall, I'd prefer to have a central vac that is made out of metal like the OVO that I had mentioned.

For that kind of money you won't have any regrets even if you only get 10 years out of it.

I sort of dont agree here although it might be market dependant and also brand dependant.


 


Here in SA you can buy a a huge selection of commercial  office style vacuums ( dry tub ) vacuums that not only will outperform just about every domestic cylinder  vacuum, but outlast it and they have a far better build quality, They also have much longer cords and hoses . ( its worth noting that in our market cylinder or canister vacuums are straight suction only NO PN maybee a turbine head but that's it ) These machines ( wetrock durovac , Numatic Henry , taski , tennant , cost around the same price as a mid level canister Electrolux or Karcher or Bosch and around half the price of a Miele and they will out clean and outlast all of them.


 


In Fact you can buy a twin motor stainless steel 80L wet&dry industrial vacuum for a little less than a mid model c3 Miele

Drainvac units

I have several Drainvac units, the powerhouse, the Viper, the Turbo, the Twin Turbo and the Atomik which is a small portable unit. I think the Viper is the most powerful single motor unit that is available and the Twin Turbo's power is amazing, it's a 240 volt beast. I think they make great units.

Mike brought his Twin Turbo unit to the Vacuum Cleaner Collectors Convention (always the third weekend in September) last year. Owen and Evan installed it to the same pipes my Modern Day was hooked to. The lights in the house dimmed, burning smells came from the circuit breaker box, but the suction changed the color of my blue dinner chairs. 50 Convention-goers were shocked to see it. When it retracted the hide a hose down the hall, an unexpecting guest who had his hand over the end of the hose, was pulled down the hall by the hose. Now that's some power.

The DrainVac that I would love to try out would be their DV1R20 commercial unit and connect it with either a 3.88 and/or a 3.9 HP Booster head to see how well it would perform. I would imagine that it would be as powerful as both the CycloVac 7525 and the Aqua-Air 258. I wouldn't mind owning a Twin Turbo to use for my own home if the price is right for me since I live in higher altitude. I still think though they're not worth the price for what they are plus I'm still critical with ThinkVacuums.com, I don't plan to buy from them unless if they would apologize to me for censoring out my comments from their YouTube videos.

I was watching this video that I've seen before. The suction motor sounds different compare to mine. I wonder what kind of motor that this older Little Giant uses? I would bet that it's a Domel motor but what model number though?
