What is there to like about a Dormeyer mixer?
Why do people like Dormeyer mixers? something I always wondered about, never saw them for sale in local stores, only seen them for sale in catalogs like Alden and Speigal both of which were located in Chicago the same city in which Dormeyer was located. Sunbeam began there also.
Not to offend any one I reasons why not likely buy one
1. the beaters are not set close to the edge of the bowl, requiring user attention and the use of a spatula to obtain a through mix. There are other mixers that have the same issue GE, Iona and Westinghouse models come to mind here too.
2. the beaters are too small compared to the size of the bowls
3 the bowls do not rotate automatically like Sunbeam & Hamilton Beach mixers having the friction button that contacts rotates the mixing bowls
4. are the attachments useful and effective? I found the juicer the only effective attachment, the grinder always leaves a substantial amount of incompletely processed food to be cleaned out. The slicer/shredder looks like a toy and the blades were not sharp
5. the beaters appear to be shorter than average with very long beater shafts half of which are in the mixer (less lateral 'play' is on plus to that arrangement)
I do know they sold for less than other mixers too.
