I just found a Don Clark Powerhead today at an estate sale for one dollar. I was hoping for a yellow one, but I guess you can't be choosy with something so rare. This was seems a bit different though in that it has a three prong plug on the end. I would have expected a normal two prong power nozzle plug to be on it. Does anyone know anything about this particular model? was it made for another vacuum or for a commercial vacuum other than an Airway? The model number is C1250 A. I have been looking for one of these for a long time, still can't believe I found one. At the house where I found it I didn't see any canisters, only two other Hoover Convertibles. But I did see the home had a central vacuum system, so perhaps this was what they used with their central vacuum. The top of the wand has what looks like a homemade adapter to attach it to another style of hose so maybe it was just adapted for use with the central vac.

Yes, and the very top has a piece that's been screwed to the lower wand. It looks to me like they made a converter to use with a particular hose. I did see somewhere that Eureka made these for their commercial vacuums as well and that would make sense. The serial number plate on mine says Eureka in Bloomington Il, whereas the one Kyle Krichbaum has says Milwaukee, WI. So if its for a commercial Eureka, what would the vacuum have been? I just can't think of any commercial Eureka's from that long ago. Would it have been a sanitaire that looked like a Princess?

Eureka power head

I have seen but don't have,1 sales sheet that showed this type with a Eureka can using type H bags. This may have been a responce to customers who saw PNs with Elux & Sears and asked for with other brands. This is probably more rare than actual AW version.

More info, please!

I also have one of these with a top wand from a Filter Queen. In rough shape, but on my re-do list. I am interested in more history on these. I've only seen one other until this posting.

"Don Clark Powerhead"

Yes, these super powerheads where manufactured from Eureka Williams Co for Don Clark's Air-Way and also Silver King machines as well in the Early 1970's .
They worked well for "Commercial Cleaning" units that Don Clark sold. He had a special Patent on them. They are real neat to have!!

Happy Vacuuming,
