This is a Merlin Du vacuum which is currently being sold on Sky channel 646 I think. I am wondering if it has a rotating brushbar because the cleaner head is unusually coloured in comparison to other stick vacs ever sold in the UK and it is kinda thicker. This makes the head look funky, and it looks nice! Deffo now worth £50 though
PS The lady uses a DC14 Vroom!!! XD

Is this what you are referring to?

It looks like it has straight suction on the website, as you can see a rubber squeegee at the front folding in and out on the floors at the front of the floor head. I would be very surprised if it has a brush roll. What a pity it doesn't appear to have one - I can see many would buy it based on that fact alone.

Watch the video on the link shown. There is no power plug at the end of the floor head when the dust buster is taken out. I don't think there could be any other way in which an electric brush roll would be possible with that design mechanism.

Yes mate, That's the one :)
I know it's not a machine with the electrical driven brushbar, but I was thinking if it was an air driven brushbar
It looks like a nice machine in general with a cord and nice tools

i know what you mean - its hard to find a mains cord stick vacuum WITH a long cord and enough power from a roller brush that looks pretty good with its separate dust buster.

Hoover make a few but not sold in the UK. I have thought about doing the Amazon route with European companies outside the UK who are happy to sell stick vacs that aren't UK market, even if it means having to look into the different voltage and separate plug convertor.

I still have my old Miele Alternative stick vac. Its a good one to collect and keep, but I don't like using it much - it is quite heavy compared to the above.

The last one I had was an inherited Starlyf stick vac. Air driven turbobrush that lacked speed.

(see thread http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?18339)

I had a Starlyf vacuum. Cost me £10 from the carboot sale, was very clean.
The brushbar was rubbish, the handle snapped, the filter got clogged, and it was useless

A good friend of mine shown me a listing on eBay which shown the Electrolux "brush up" in a maroon colour. It was corded and had a brushbar. I would have got it, but it's a shame I didn't want it at the time.

I think I can remember it vaguely. I know Electrolux did a whole series of cheap and light stick vacs - being the owner of the truly horrid and very weak 140 watt Supabroom green model, Electrolux offered two models - a dark red Supabroom and a bright yellow model with brush roll against the Supabroom green model with a lousy suction only floor head and tiny rollers that used to get lost in thick carpeting.

I was considering a Superbroom, there was a yellow one for £2 or 3 at the carboot like a year and a half ago, I went god got a Morphy Richards Pod corded mini upright instead for £3. It had good suction, but no brushbar. Came with a crevice tool and worked nicely. Had a rusty handle but steel wool fixed that, and it had the hose too! :D

I had the little Pod too! Oh I remember it well!

I eventually donated it to a coffee shack "static caravan" owner who swapped me for it with an electric milk frother jug. I think it was better than an upright stick vac than a cylinder/ hand held with the awkward shoulder strap.

Indeed it was :P lol I sold the Pod for £8 stupidly! :( Shame cos it had the hose and crevice tools, which is hard to find a Pod vacuum with those things :(
Fantastic machine, I never took it apart to see the motor either :(

Whoh, Thank you soo much I like that vacuum, I want that one, Cheers to you so so so much!

BTW we went shopping today and at the retailer shop in Town, they were having a clearance!
There was 2X brand new dirt devil corded handhelds with motorised brushbars with the bin at the back
£20 for a corded very very cheap stick vac with just a plastic cleaner head with a rubber squechee.

There was a vax mach air in red which was kinda cool, but honestly after playing with that, Id much rather have a Dyson DC24 which is what I want now

The Dyson DC24 seems like a good stick vac to me, well a nice cute baby machine that's got a small hose and size
