I bought a new bed back in April. The frame is 100% solid hardwood -- no plywood or particle board, and it's built very sturdily with heavy-duty bolts holding the headboard, footboard and sideboards together and four hardwood support slats going across the sideboards to support the mattress.
It has a Sealy Posturpedic extra firm mattress and box spring. It's very comfortable.
I have quite a few sets of sheets and many comforters. But my favorite set is the one you see in the photos. Back in the late 1970s I bought a set of sheets, pillow cases and a comforter by Wamsutta, called "Tomorrow's Rainbow." I bought them at the Hecht Company store in Annapolis where I worked part-time. I really loved those sheets and they came with me to California but eventually got so worn out that I gave them to the church's rummage sale.
Well, one day I was browsing eBay listings and thought to search for Wamsutta rainbow sheets, and lo and behold! There was a set of sheets, pillow caess, AND a matching comforter! I lucked out and was the only bidder and got them for a song. So now I can relive my 1970s Glory Days with rainbow sheets!
I found via Google that the Tomorrow's Rainbow series was created by noted textile designer Julian Tomchin.
I have always loved, and will always love, rainbows -- Mother Nature's grand prisms.
