As Dixie Sue has been getting older* she's becoming less attentive to her personal hygiene. Frankly, she has really been stankin' here lately.
I considered giving her a bath; however, with some personally painful experiences when trying to do so to other cats in the past, held off acting on the idea.
But she got so smelly that we just had to do something.
I put on a thick jacket and gloves and Arlee accompanied me into the bathroom in case she went ballistic.
"Well." ... as Jack Benny would say.
She couldn't have been more docile! I won't say she actually enjoyed it but she was quite still and patient, not making a fuss even when I poured rinse water over her.
I scooped her up into a towel and dried her off. I set her down and she meandered down the hall as if nothing had happened and headed into the utility room where she waited for lunch.
Now, Doggie and LoLo ... that's a different matter entirely. They both HATE getting baths and it's always a real struggle with them. All we have to do is call out "Take a bath" and they give us worrisome looks and then go hide. I told them they should be like Dixie Sue!

*We're not sure exactly how old she is. We adopted her in October 2009 and she was around 10-11 years old then. So she's at least 17 years old, maybe older. She's actually held up pretty well.
