Just saw this on my local craigslist. Never saw one of these before. Kind of a neat design. In the ad the seller has it listed as a DD "Kone" Vac.

Found some info out about the Kone (that is the correct spelling) Vac from DD.

Amazon.com Product Description
Created by award-winning fashion designer Karim Rashid, this cordless handheld vacuum cleaner features an elegant, sculptural design that can be proudly displayed in any room. The top of the sleek cone-shaped piece serves as the handle of the hidden vacuum, which easily twists off its plug-in charging base when it's time to clean. The vacuum provides a 1-1/2-inch-wide nozzle and a soft, rubberized, furniture-friendly tip for detail cleaning without scratching surfaces. Since the vacuum sits in its charging base in between cleanings, it stays charged and ready to use at all times. Other thoughtful details include simple "on/off" control, a powerful 7-1/5-volt rechargeable battery, a bagless design with an easy-to-empty washable dirt cup, and a power cord, which stores hidden on a wrap under the base. The vacuum assembles quickly with no tools required. Ideal for daily upkeep around the home, the stylish handheld vacuum cleaner measures approximately 6-1/2 by 6 by 18 inches and carries a three-year limited warranty.

I see them in a number of stores but I'll just bide my time till those same stores put them out on the clearance table. I'm swearing off as best possible not to buy anything that uses rechargeable batteries anymore. When I think of all the junk I've bought over the years that no longer work because those batteries eventually fizzle out and you can't replace them economically. Black & Decker had to be the worst when it came to that. Always bringing out some new tool or gizmo for about 1 year, you buy it, then you're stuck with something that eventually you have no choice but to toss it.

I got a blue one...

From TTI, when they bought out Hoover. They gave all Service Center employees one as a "welcome to the company" sort of thing.

I keep it in the bathroom, next to the Cat's litter box... use it to pick up kitty litter. That's how high of a regard I have for TTI. :)

This Kone Vac. would have been great for the old Sat. Night Live "The Cone Heads" to have on the show instead of using their own cone. Alan, My Shark Sweeper doesn't stay charged when its not plugged in all the time either,I've had it for about three years,I found it at a thrift store for 3.00,so I've gotten my moneys worth,The handle broke so I'll look for one on e-bay,they have improved batteries now, these really work great, especially cat litter on bare floors, I'm always surprised at how much it picks up when I empty the tray. Dyson DC16

6 Minutes.... how could you even begin to use it for any major cleaning... It is so big and awkward, you could not use it on your car as the run time would not be long enough nor would it fit into any tight spaces. For $150.00 it doesn't seem to be much of a bargin. I will say though it is an interesting machine and probably does have better suction than most hand held battery units. I never have owned any of those battery operated machines... to me they are just a waste to time and energy and never fully charged when you need them...LOL

Yeah I have one of the Kones (consequently one of the recalled models that flings dirt out of the exhaust), it was a partnership Dirt Devil had with some designer to make all these weird styled vacuums. The idea was to have a vacuum you could leave out in the open and look "stylish" for your penthouse apartment.
