Dirt Devil Broomy!

I know, it's rechargeable counterpart (bears the name, no way resembles) is no where near as good. I was really upset when Dirt Devil dropped the corded broom vac. I purchased mine new from Woolworth's after they had already been discontinued.

Hi me vacuumboy95 again to say if you want to trade that I do have the red one incase you don't have it.

Broomy!

Love the cute name! That vacuum looks nice in black. Maybe you could put it to work on that rug it's sitting on???

Yeah, why do you guys get all the cute names like "Broomy" and stuff, and we have plain old "Broom Vac" LOL

great

I am so glad that you posted a picture of this... I looked all over the internet to find a picture of the package of bags that I posted when I couldn't find one of the actual machine on the other thread. It does look great in black... wonder if you could mix a red and black bag and body and call it the "Black Widow?" I knew a kid when I was in high school whose mom had our red Broom Vac... she hated it, but I did love the fact that it reminded me of a Kirby. Saw one at the thrift store the other day, but it was in terrible shape. If I remember correctly, this was Dirt Devil's only rear bagged machine... correct me if necessary. Great pic! I know some had a push button switch on the bottom, but I think I also have seen a couple in the past that had a rocker switch... I wonder if they were fixed or if it came in two versions? It was markted as a second upstairs vac or for apartments... that one and the Dirt Devil Cruiser are the only two of their "machines" I can even stand. And yes... Broomy is a MUCH better name! I'm assuming black flap comes off like a commercial Royal for the insertion of the hose? I need to run one some day and see how it feels and how big the bag inflates :O)
Thanks for posting!

Very cool Broomy! I do like the name and the color...I don't ever remember seeing a black version.

I had the blue "Royal Pro Series" version of the Broom Vac that I found at an estate sale (along with the matching blue 2-speed hand vac which I still have) for a short time. A GS Electric power nozzle motor powered them, and Tom said this was the same motor the Dirt Devil hand vacs used as well. I thought it was cool until it gradually started losing speed while it was running, which upon taking it apart I found that the rear motor bearing was completely gone so I junked it. Depending on how cheap I can get one, I might have another one again, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get a spare motor just in case. My other gripe are the friction-fit rear wheels, which tend to wear down where they attach.

Bobby--I've seen both variations of switches as you describe (foot switch and rocker) when these were new way back when. Mine had the foot switch. I know that in addition to the Broom Vac, the Lite and Lite Plus full-sized uprights from about 10-11 years ago had a soft outer bag instead of the hardcase as well.

thanks

Thanks for confirming the switch thing... I didn't think I was crazy. I thought the Lites had frontal soft bags though... do ya have a pic? I know there were a few other soft bagged models, but I think that this one was the only rear mount. If I get one of them, I will need the foot press switch... no way am I going to fumble for that tiny rocker!

Granny's Vacuum Cleaner!

Hi.
This is my granny's vacuum.
Light enough for here to use till I come around with my kirby tradition.

So sorry I not able to give it to anyone at the moment.
Yes HenryDreyfuss the carpet is dirty as it was taken in her out house where she keeps it.

Still no excuse for a dirty carpet.
Must give her a good smack next time I see her!

James;-))

You know, now that the Hoover Junior has been discontinued for quite some time, I always felt the Dirt Devil Broom Vac (Broomy) would be a nice alternative. It has a smaller nozzle which is perfect for small apartments, or getting into tight spaces. I really wish Dirt Devil would bring this one back.

I've got a brand new, never used tool kit for that machine that I bought to go with my Royal Prince hand vac. It's the same as the Royal Prince tool kit except it has two wands instead of just one. The only thing I've ever used out of it is the belt tool.

I used to have one and it was neat but mine had the plastic cracked in a couple of places and I eventually had to get rid of it. I used a tool kit for a Dirt Devil hand vac that I got from Amazon and it worked as well as you'd expect from such a small machine.
