Hello. I'm new here. Looks like you folks might have the answer I've been looking for. I've been trying to find out the exact difference between the Model 103 and Model 503. I've had the 503 for several years and really like it. I recently acquired the 103 and they seem to be the same, inside and out. I would appreciate any advice that you may have to offer.

Thanks,

Tom.

Thanks, Ben. Your reply made me go look at the labels. Here's what they say:

Model 503 - Plant B - Household Type - SN I90B486084 - VAC 120 - HZ 60 - Amps 2.0

Model 103 - Plant B - Household Type - SN J90B3350310 - VAC 120 - HZ 60 - Amps 2.0

Don't see 2.2 Amps on my 503...perhaps that came later in the run?

I measured the cord length at 20' for the 103 and 25' for the 503.

The label on the side of the unit says "Dirt Devil" for the 103 and "Dirt Devil Plus" for the 503. Could it have been merely the additional 5' of cord???

OK, then that's it! The tool kit. When I bought the 503, years ago, it was used and had been rebuilt. It also came with a few tools in a bag. I still have the bag and several of the tools. Other than this kit, it would appear the 503 and 103 are identical.

Thanks for your input, Ben.

Ben, you might be interested in this:

Before I posted onto this forum, I wrote to "Dirt Devil Customer Care" and asked what the difference was between these two sweepers. Simple question, eh?

I'll quote from the response I got:

"Thank you for contacting Dirt Devil Customer Care. I am sorry customer service does not have internal information on the cleaners due to liability. You will need to check with local service centers for assistance.

"I know the body is the same along with attachments and the bag used. We have no information about switch, motor, or impeller."

They then attached a list of three local service centers.

That's when I decided to find a forum that might be able to answer my question.

Interesting, eh? Not sure why they couldn't/wouldn't answer my simple question.

Tom.
