Was watching a clip on Facebook of a later episode of Desperate Housewives when this caught my eye. To preface, Bree’s daughter, Danielle is playing hide and seek with her son. She opens the closet door to find him hiding inside next to…a Bissell Healthy Home? My wife and I have watched this series a couple times now and I have noticed some of the vacuums used…mostly Dysons. Carlos Solis uses what might be a bagless Hoover Tempo in an early episode and I believe Karen McClusky had an older bagged Hoover upright. Lynette uses a Kenmore upright in another episode as well. The “lower end” Hoover that Carlos used wasn’t really a surprise since the Solis’s typically had a housekeeper and wouldn’t have cared much what kind of vacuum was used. Karen’s Hoover made sense as she probably would have had the same vacuum for several decades. Likewise, the Kenmore that Lynette uses seems like something that a busy and modest mother of four would use. For Bree to have a Bissell though was a bit of a shock. I always wondered what the cleaning and homemaking queen of the show would be using and figured it would have been a higher end canister of some kind (Electrolux or Filter Queen came to mind) or even the latest Dyson available since that was the popular machine of the time. I know it is just a TV show and most people don’t pay attention to such things but as a mild vacuum cleaner enthusiast, I found this interesting and thought for sure Bree’s vacuum would be something different.
