Simply Amazing!

Let me echo everyone's sentiments and compliments. You've done a beautiful restoration job. Amazing!

Thanks for the nice comments! It really is rewarding to just stare at your work after you've spent many hours restoring it. I've found my LG washer's Sanitary Cycle (170 F), with a prewash gets all of my microfiber cloths ready for another round of cleaning/detailing. I seem to get them all dirty at least twice before i'm done with just 1 cleaner. (I've been known to polish threads of the screws before... ask Jack!!!)

As for the compound and polish, I use Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish for small details, like screw heads etc, I use Zymol Cleaner/Wax for painted surfaces, and for deep polish/buffing, I used some cheap stuff I found at Harbor Freight - works better than the stuff I've been using in the past I got from Sears! I'll have to take a picture of what I use in case anyone else wants to try it. It really worked so much better, wish I'd tried it sooner! I'm going to go over my Kirby Sanitronic again with the new compounds before I put it together.

Andrew...

...not only do you polish the threads of screws (I've SEEN him do this!!), but you're the only person I know who would actually consider polishing the windings on the armature! (that's a joke!)

:P

It's *SO* beautiful now...you know I'm jealous, cos I told you so! I loved watching the project as it progressed, and it's almost unrecognisable as the same cleaner now. Great photos, too!

Now say 'ALU-MIN-I-UM'.

:D

Wow... that is quite a different machine than the ones in the first pics. Very nice work! How ever did you fix that wheel? Did you have a donor machine?

Wow.

I can only echo what everyone else has said... Simply incredible.

That is a gorgeous, and probably quite rare machine. Please--promise us that you're going to be keeping that for a loooooong time. Haha!

You did a simply magnificent job polishing and cleaning...

Are you coming to the convention this year? If so, I would definitely recommend bringing that machine.

Congratulations!

~Fred

What a shame......

It's just too bad that we are all booked up for the convention. I could think of two categories that that machine would have fit in for the Non-cleaning competitions....tsk, tsk, tsk....really sorry Andrew.

OK!!! I'M LYING!!! We're not booked up! Go ahead and bring your machine! I'm not going to enter my feeble attempts against that machine if you are going. That Delco is (how should I put this)?

B E A U T I F U L!!!!!!!! Great job! This is what this club is all about.

I'm in awe.....
Rick

tact, Rick, tact!

Oh no, Pete. Not at all. Your Fairfax is fantastic! But I only saw the finished product. No before pictures.

(whew)

Rick

Andrew, it would really be great if you could make it to the convention. I know how much Greg enjoyed meeting you and I know all of us would too. And like Fred said, be sure and bring that beautiful vacuum with you.

Shiney

Wow, Andrew, perfect restoration, and what a stunning vac, love the way the nozzle is out front and the detailing of the air holes etc.. the bag looks in great shape for its age which is always a plus!!!

Looks very much like a larger Goblin Wizard form the 1940`s just with a wider brush path...looking forward to seeing it run, Mike
