Reading all the recent DC01 threads recently, I remembered when (about 2002/3ish) I would buy 3 or 4 dc01's from the tip for a fiver each, repair and clean them and punt them out on ebay for £80-90!

Of course, those days are long gone, but I had a look around and found one very close and with no bids

So, for a fiver, I won this:

It was advertised with a fault, however I found more than that...

The wand was also almost snapped in half grrrr. I glued it up last night and it seemed solid enough

However, whilst taking these very pictures, I dropped the machine on its back by accident and

buggar! Useless now! It cracked in different places to the glue though

It also STANK

I forgot how small and dinky the hoses are on these!

This caught me by surprise, nearly yanked the motor too hard...

Luckily the motor is sweet enough too

There's also alot of parts for such a small machine. Built when everything was rubber seal and screwed together, rather than injection moulded. I miss that!

It's all in the bath drying now. Hoping the rain stops and the car boot sales are on tomorrow, hoping to find a scrapper DC01 for the wand, seems the cheapest way to do it! Also want a DC to do up and sell. I have a DC14 that's almost ready but I want to give it to my gran rather than sell it!

We shall see!

Also, is it true that Turbopower 2 belts fit DC01's? Sure I've read it does somewhere, can't remember if it was a reputable source or not though!

What plan is that then? Used mine to wash a couple of rugs & the 121's are so much better than the newer Vaxes.

Sam, it's not the one from hell! Thank the mighty Lord above that you have the wheel arches, they always snap off!

Sam, I've had the handle snap on my DC01 in the exact same place! I put a screw through it, and it held together for quite a while. At least the motor runs well, my DC01's motor sounded like a motorbike!
