Hello everyone...

I picked up a manual for an old Kenmore vacuum cleaner. Looks 40s or 50s to me but I wanted to see if I could get a better idea. Says it is for model number 116.9815 1 (711).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

The dating thread is on the off-topic forum. Personally, I wouldn't want to date a vacuum cleaner. Maybe dinner and a movie but - that's it! Go ahead call me what you will, I'm still old fashion...

(hang on a minute)

Oh! stupid me! You are interested in the DATE of Manufacture of this Kenmore - I just read the rest of your post. I have no idea. I'll bet Hans will know! He's a Kenmore kinda guy...

(How ya doin' Mark?)

Mark -

That style debuted in about 1937, right around the time (a little later) than the "Bugeye" Imperial. For some reason known only to Birtman Electric and Kenmore/Sears, it was kept around for quite awhile. It started off as a polished metal model and eventually morphed into a painted metal model.

Somewhere I have research that I did years ago about the Kenmore vacuums, dating each one by year of debut. If/when I dig it out, I'll post a thread about this one. Thanks for the great scans of the manual.
