Can't believe the ignorance in the comments box

Ditto. I'm waiting until I get home before I start replying to a few of those narrow minded, uppity arseholes.

Typical Daily Mail readers.

Having said that, I don't think the article did us any favours. It makes vacuum collectors look like a freakshow. I'm sure none of the 3 people featured in the article are in anyway strange or weird, but in true british press style, they've latched onto 1 passing comment or tiny detail and blown it all out of proportion.

Typical Daily Mail.

Like one says 'They probably don't know how to use one' & that 'He looks as if he's about to have sex with all of his hoovers'

Honestly, do people really have to be so ignorant?

They're all snobs, the lot of them (dailymail readers). It also dosent help that it's under the 'femail' section.

The Daily Fail is always the same - full of Essex boys and Essex girl readers comments, and rude ones at that.

So what if we have strange habits like collecting vacuums?

Its a pity there is no one from the UK there - I thought maybe Sebo_fan, or Kirbymodel2C may have featured?

304 vacs? John Long (Gottahaveahoove) has more than that lol.  Speaking of John, what happened to him? he hasn't been on for ages?

To be honest vacuum collecting is strange/weird not to us, but when someone who has no interest reads that some people are obsessed and that people have them crammed into there homes they're not really showing us in a good light so how do you expect positive comments, yes people will make joke the most famous being that I receive sexual favours off my henry but oh well

Michael, I completely disagree. I think the kind of people who make those jokes are....well...Daily Mail readers. Narrow minded, ignorant people. Lots and lots of people collect many MANY different things - stamps, books, records, china, jewelry, clothes, cars, bikes, shoes, photographs, dead insects. Why is our hobby any different from those?

Why is our hobby any different from those?

it isn't but you cant say that it is normal to have 300 vacuum cleaners which take over your home, not everyone collects something, and yes I think it is strange even though I am the one who does it I've learned not to question it as much, its NOT normal to have vacuums taking over your house I dont understand why you are trying to make out it is

Normal is whatever you want it to be. It is not a word I use freely, but others do and then it often get takes out of context. Perhaps "usual" might have been a better choice of word. Either way, he makes a point. You know what people are like, you only have to see it on here, it is far more enjoyable to say something negative and offensive than it is otherwise. A few people commented on the Daily Mail article. I would hazard a guess that the 50-odd people who bothered to say anything at all were only a handful of the actual number of persons who read the story. Who knows what the others were thinking? Whatever it was, they kept it to themselves. I expect they were to busy to even care.

Wow, those comments are something else lol hmmm i's have to say iv'e had one hell of a great life in my nearly 30 years (25 years collecting). i'm not a loaner sitting around at home playing with my vacuums. I travel, play with my cars, enjoy going out with friends of all walks of life, and much more lol
I am also lucky to be dating someone who thinks my hobby is really cool and she really shows an interest and it's not because I vacuum for her lol I actually don't, I let her do her own vacuuming. With all of my Pugs plus her Pugs together that's a lot of friggin vacuuming

Wow you know I can't believe how they twist what people say. After they finished filming I started to realize how much much they twist what you say into what they want you to say. They constantly were trying to stir up rivarly and get me to say other vacuum were rubbish. Truly sorry I took part in this.

Gareth

Oh and the Dog is our company Mascot, I still haven't seen the film

That's sad Gareth that they have twisted your words but I'm not surprised I've yet to watch the documentary.

Just looking at the comments this morning I was expecting a lot more nasty ones but I don't think it's that bad, although CP0402's comments need reporting (I jest :p) Good work Chris!

Just reading what they wrote , IE My wife said I sleep with a vacuum under my arm ?? No she didn't but they would ask us to say something and then say , thats good but why not say it like this. I refused to say many things,

IE I love dyson Vacuums and they were trying to get me to say that other collecters don't like dyson this is because they are stuck in the past and things like that. What has been worrying me is how they edit things together.

My wife said its on TV tonight and I actually don't want o watch it.

As a vacuum collector I collect OTHER objects besides vacuums-lets see-various types of LED and HID lamps,Guns, ammo,Movie banners and posters, maps, books, food waste disposers, info on trash trucks(I would collect those too if I had the space, money and a commercial driving license)sewing machinesI could think of other things-yes small appliances such as mixers, food processors and blenders. The commentors on that link are the strange ones.Oh yes, samll collection of lawn mowers, info on compactors.

CP0402's comments need reporting

HA! Quiet you ;).

Gareth, it doesn't suprise me about them twisting your words. I was speaking with James Brown not so long ago who recently featured in a channel 5 documentary about collecting - he said exactly the same thing. They were trying to get him to say certain things in a certain way so that they could twist this and use it to their advantage.
