Hi Guys.
I just installed a new CWP brushroll in my convertible model 719. To me it sounds great even quieter and seems to run good and grooms nicer.. i put a new belt as well. I've read on here that some of you would not recommened the CWP for the older convertibles? Any reason why? Does it put more strain on the motor? or will it wear down the belt and motor faster? Keep in mind i use this vac weekly.. so any suggestions or advise would be ok.. NOW. i did get a smell of burnt rubber but i checked the belt after and its still fine.. do you think this new CWP brush could be a problem? any advise would be appreciated..

Thanks.

The newer plastic based Convertibles handle the CWP brush roll very well. I use it in my Decade 80 and I've noticed increased suction when using the attachments. If you search through past archives, you will find that a very knowledgeable Hoover man advised us not to use the CWP brushroll in older Convertibles. The CWP brush roll puts a lot of drag on the older Convertible motors. In the newer plastic based Convertibles they are fine.

as a 37 year hoover warranty service and repair sales dealer ....the cwp agitator in an older convertible causes drag in the 3.5 amp 425 watt motor in the 1957 to 1974 models due to the brushes being so hard thus causing the drag....the brushes on these units were longer and softer and not hard and blunt cut....thats why 4.3 amp 5.0 amp and 6. amp convertibles do better with them....thats why their were two diffrent helix convertible agitiators and convertible agitator brushes and ends

thanks

well just seems to work well.. but the last thing i wanna do is ruin my cleaner. so ill take ya'lls advise and stick with the original agitator it came with. I just heard so much hype about them on here and on a couple of youtube vids just wasnt sure how they would be on older convertibles. Thanks guys!
