I've got the Windtunnel Deluxe #5462 clear red, not self propelled. They look like the same models. Where yours says 4.0 there in front mine says 26.0 cleaning efficiency. Other than that pretty much the same. I really like mine, although it's heavy at about 23 lbs. I rescued it from a dumpster about 10 years ago. It was in great shape, the bearings in the roller were dry, dirty and loud. I was able to clean and re-grease them which reduced the noise by about 90%! When the brushes wear down, I'll buy a new roller. It does a good job of cleaning. I'm not sure when they produced these, I remember laughing at a commercial showing the dirt sensor, but I actually like having it now that I have it! The suction at the hose is good. Hope you like yours too.

This is one of the more expensive models Windtunnels with the dirt finder option. Windtunnels can be noisy and heavy, but can't be beat in cleaning power. I have one of the first Windtunnel models that later had a recall issued on the handle trigger for it overheating and catching fire, mine hasn't done that so far. It works great on getting weather-beaten dirt out of outdoor patio rugs.

12 amps? O_o
That's like... 1440 watts.
That's like, only 60 less than the maximum allowable small appliance wattage (1500w).
That's a lot of power.

Oh yeah, Hoover really went maximum levels of insane at making these. They took no prisoners at designing the "most-sucking" vacuum ever.

To put it into perspective, most outdoor residential central air conditioning units use anywhere from 15-30 amps!

My Windtunnel when it blows the hot air out of the motor it acts as a foot warmer too, lol Feels nice in the winter months to use it.

When it seemed like suddenly every manufacturer was touting 12 amps it reminded me of the engine call out signs we had in the 60s on the fenders hey look at me

Yeah the amp rating on vacuums in the mid 90s was very much like touting horsepower on cars - it was all about who was more powerful. The more amps - the more cleaning power it had - so the thought was. It was a whole big competition. If you watch a lot of commercials from the time - companies were so aggressive with that marketing and took pot-shots at each other's vacuums left and right. lol

Yes, to a degree it worked! A friend of mine had a small cleaning business, she likes Hoover, she actually said it's a 12 amps that's what you want! I said no Bert, that's how much power it will consume,6-7 is plenty! She would not believe me.

I'd have a sleeper 1969 SS 454 only a few hundred produced. I'd also take baby blue convertible blue 442 Hurst 1970 model.
With eurekas and Hoover's older models may preform better because 1990s vacuums eats rugs. Slow motor down good admiration. You wouldn't have to turn vacuum off to get across s rug.
I like new and old. I have a Royal 400 watt which is 3.3 amps. It's quiest and cleaned very well.
