Greetings All,

I have a 16 gal 2.5 Peak h.p. wet/dry vac. The issue I am faced with is trying to find replacement "bags" for it. It has a TWO port internal nozzle. (kinda "Y" shaped.) No one at Sears knows what the heck it is!! I'm not sure where to go so I came here hoping someone would be able to tell me: 1. why the two ports? and 2. where I can get bags for it?

Thanks!
NC

Somewhere on the vacuum there will be a data tag with the model number. Using the model number, you can look your vacuum up in Sears Parts Direct and find the part number of the dust bag. If you wish, give me the model number and I'll look it up for you. The model number will have a three digit prefix, a period and five to eight numbers after the period. Example, one of my old vacuums is model number 116.2399182.

Don't dispair if Sears Parts Direct says the bag is no longer available. Sears has changed bag nomenclature many times over the years and having the part number will let you search bags from many sources.

I've looked over every inch of this vacuum and can not find a data tag. I do think I found a model number from eplacement.com (I think that is the site.) But, I'll look again.

Any idea why there are two nozzle ports?

I'm wondering if the twin spouts are easily removed and replaced by a single spout a bag could be mounted to? Alternatively, could the bag just be something like a trash bag liner that lines the inside of the dirt compartment but doesn't fit tight to a spout? Just conjecturing because I have never had a wet/dry vac.

Not every shop vac was made to be used with bags. It looks like yours needs either (1) a pleated filter, or (2) a combination of a foam filter (water pickup) and a paper/cloth bag that fits on top of the foam filter.

The y-shaped nozzle looks like it was designed to divert the incoming stream of dirt away from the filter.

I was wondering the same thing, about the trash bag idea. Yes, the double spout can be removed. But, I may try the trash bag idea, first. I did think about sealing off one of the spouts and just using a "regular" bag. See how that might work.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look again this evening for any model numbers, etc...

I like your thinking Ralph. That makes a lot of sense. My major concern is using it to clean my chimney...I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to destroy the vacuum.

I used to see those in the Sears catalogs and can't recall them having a bag available or not.

Craftsman had some interesting designs. There was a model similar to this with a variable speed lever and a smaller model with a gray tank that had a cord reel.

They also had a power nozzle option of sorts that was propelled by rollers similar to a carpet sweeper.
