super fine steel wool...

rub lightly, and the marks will come off. Follow with a wipe with a damp cloth, then follow that with brasso metal polish.

Pour about a quarter size puddle atop the hood, use a paper towel to rub it in a circular motion, then buff with a soft cloth.
Do one section of the hood at a time, and repeat as you feel necessary to produce the shine desired.

I'll never forget the first time Little Fred saw me take steel wool to a hood....

yeah,

I will give it back with the stip that if she ever gets tired of it I would like to add it to my collection.
I like the family ones, lots of sentimental value!

Hey Jeff,

Great job with the restoration. I especially like the "updated" Hoover medallion. Too bad they didn't put that on at the factory. It really enhances the look of the machine.

updated medallion

Thanks Joe!
I didn't really have a choice with the medallion, as the original one kinda rubbed off when I was polishing it, so I put that one on.
I am excited for Susan to get this back now, I know she's going to love it!
