does your community strictly enforce 'social distancing' & require that face masks be worn in public?

BG requires face masks be worn in public but doesn't strictly enforce 'social distancing'

it seems like the Meijer store in Bowling Green got too 'crowded' unlike kroger or 'the * symbol' where the line of customers are very long

btw the symbol is the store that used to be called walmart (unless its name got shortened to *)

Yeah in Chicago and surrounding 'burbs masks are required. Honestly, I'm perfectly fine with that. It's an annoying, but reasonable compromise. It's the other lockdown stuff I'm not OK with.

As for the 'second wave'... a lot of people are thinking this WAS the second wave. Lot of folks had a nasty flu in December or January. I'm of the opinion that that was the first wave.

2nd wave already

Very interesting. I hadn't heard about people thinking this was the second wave.

If that's the case I'd say it was indeed worse than the first with NYC etc. It is still so strange how that happened there, yet here in FL things didn't get all that bad (IMO). Miami-Dade, Broward etc are still closed as they had a lot more cases, but it's starting to ease up even there.

I wouldn't disagree that it was circulating in December and January. That seems to be the common opinion, hospitals in some areas were getting people with sever flu-like symptoms but it wasn't showing up in tests. So they didn't know what it was other than some kind of flu.

Although I'm still of the opinion I didn't have it, because when I got sick it was only for about 4 days, although it knocked me down fast, whatever it was. But this was a particularly bad flu season, so I think a lot of people that were sick likely had something else.

I'm just ready to get back to normal. In ways it already feels that way, since I've gotten used to staying home on the weekends. My credit card bills are way down!

Most likely I'll start going out again soon. Places are open again, and the weather is nice. As long as I stay apart from people and wear a mask, I think I'll be ok.

Masks are not required here, but I wear one whenever I go in public, which hasn't been often. I haven't been to Walmart, Publix, etc in two months. It wasn't until last few weeks I started going to the Dollar General, since there are fewer there. The second to last time I went nobody except me had a mask on.

Hoping this stuff just fades out on its own. The numbers are still high, but they are falling in general. Wonder if it's the warmer weather? Although that doesn't seem to make a widespread difference when you look at other countries.

It's probably a bit like Spanish flu, or at least it will be, by the end. That is, the strongest strain of the virus simply burned itself out, because it killed just about everyone who had it.

This whole COVID-19 thing has really become a huge social issue. This week alone I have pretty much been told that I don't know what I'm talking about and I just need to shut my mouth if I'm that clueless. However I do know more than what people give me credit for and fine. So be it. So things with some friends basically ended with me saying "If you think I'm that stupid okay fine. You do your own thing. But when you get sick and are suffering from the COVID-19 then you better shut up and take it like a man" And with the way some of them are acting they will get sick.

Andy !! You're an intelligent man!

WHO CARES what OTHERS say about YOU??!!??!!??!!?
Do you know what things have been said about ME? If I worried about that "crap", I'd go out of my mind. I've far better things to think about.
Simply put: They are NOT worth the trouble OR effort. So, "wash your hands" literally AND figuratively, and "turn the page".

Hi John.

Hopefully all is well on your end of the country. In reality I'm happy about the whole thing. I'm doing better than ever. What they don't realize is that my business partners husband works for the local hospital system up here and is right in the thick and middle of it all. My younger sister is a RN and in the thick and middle of it all. So I know more that what they realize. I maybe just an Accountant. But I now a few things. And like I told them. When they get sick... And they will. All they can do is shut up and take it like a man. They lost their right to complain when they acted the fool.

My reply# 52

Well I got notice I go back to work on Tuesday the 26th and I also found out 2 people tested positive in my department and let's just say that "Karma" has bitten one of them. They may not be returning as they've been sick since the 22nd of March. They're opening up the resort but the 3 pools here will not be opening which won't stop people using the many lakes here. I'm either one way or another on the entire thing but time will tell. Now back to the regular scheduled programming 😬

Here we are in December and.....

It is still all going on. Everything is wooing through waves where I live. One week Walmart will be out of TP the next soup. It is ridiculous that people have not figured out that that helps NO ONE. They get too much and try to return(they can’t) so they just take from all those who need. It is ridiculous.

We are under a mask mandate. Masks to be worn in public at all times. I just have to shake my head sometimes though. A police office for the city came in to pick up his two repaired vacuums. No mask. An elderly lady came in to buy bags for her Oreck. No mask. Young woman with a young child came in to buy a Shark filter. No mask on her or the child. Only about 60% are wearing them. I wear mine all the time - yet I'm the one who has to "clean" their filthy vacuum. The price on bagless vacuum repairs reflects how nasty I find the chore in the age of Covid.

dysonman do U have a 'NO MASK NO SERVICE' sign on the door at your vac shop?

Several places are being forced to shut down for 24 hrs if businesses don't comply with COVID-19 safety guidelines (at least in Ohio)

There are mask mandate signs everywhere near me.

Truly, IF everyone wore them in the beginning, the virus would have been under control, shrunken by now.
Last week the White House tree arrived. Everyone was wearing a mask, except "Melania". All of the partygoers who will not wear a mask "Nobody tells ME what to do" can be thanked.
Luckily, Dr. Fauci has been retained, vaccines are on the way. Can't we think of others? Do the right thing. So, we can all be here NEXT year.
My class was the last class on campus until at least January. We're all home.

I wear my mask whenever a customer comes in the store. I had dozens of masks made and printed by ChicagoMike (here on VL) for the Collectors Convention this last September. They advertise my store. However, when someone comes in without a mask trying to give me money, I don't turn it down. Sorry, not rich enough to turn down money. My mask is on me, and my Rainbow 75th Anniversary Model is running with germicide in the water the entire time. There's so much dissolved germicide in the air in the store it smells like a hospital in here.

We are back on lockdown here again, too many stupid you can't tell me what to do people! Everywhere! The signs are up on the doors but folks still shop without. Nobody here enforces anything, so.... Yeah, keep safe folks

They are starting to enforce masks

now everywhere. The signs have been up since April. NOW, people are being fined, businesses are being cited/fined/ even closed for 'non-compliance'.
I've even heard store workers aske people to 'please put your mask OVER you nose".
Some people just won't listen. A few, on their deathbeds, said, "I guess it WAS serious". Others STILL said, "nope".
we cannot be responsible for other people's action. But, sometimes, sadly, we have to pay for them.

People can stand far away from me. I did that way before Covid. Thank goodness I have a 12 foot front counter. They can stand 12 feet away and ask for their rubber bands and trash bags for their kirby 5.

It's hitting closer and closer to home. A family friend of many years died a couple of weeks ago. Two other friends had it but have recovered. And these are just the ones I know about; I'm pretty sure there have been more.

I got into it with a friend of mines boyfriend. He was a jerk in elementary school and not much as changed all these years later. He posted pictures of him walking around in the store with no mask because it was "his God given right." We went around for a few minutes and it kept going back to it being his "God given right" to not wear a mask. So I told him yes it was indeed his "God given right" to not wear his mask. But if he was carrying the virus and gave it to me and I got sick from it then it was my "God given right" to sue him and squeeze him for every penny he had for making me sick.

People see where this road goes. It's not hard, you should, too. Lockdowns and restrictions in the name of covid are tyrannical. Straight out of a dystopia like 1984. In certain countries, they track where you go. The gov't actually knows where you are at any given moment, in the name of covid. In China, they will imprison you in your own home (if not actual prison) at their will.

Freedom is a god given right. However, it's not always free. Hence the motto: live free or die. This holds true now more than ever.

'Oh but people will die' is not a valid excuse to roll over and let your government rule every inch of your life, I'm afraid. Choices like this are not easy.

While you may not agree (why wouldn't you?), you should at least be able to respect the point of view.
