Convention

VacuumLand – Vintage & Modern Vacuum Enthusiasts

Help Support VacuumLand:

I'm guessing It was the wedding of his private chef kristov! It must have been held at his LOVELY ocean front condo and they must have went off on that SO CALLED private jet on a honey moon to let's say Rome. Sadly we all can't love our fantasy lives like he does. Must be nice! Oh and when you decide to ACTUALLY leave New Jersey and travel to another state please let us know. :)

Regarding the one pass cleaning contests, is that one forward and one reverse, or just one forward? Does the user technique make much difference in the results? That is, does a veteran contestant have an advantage over a newbie? I'm assuming technique may be more important with the straight suction contests.

Well, one wants 'good technique'

However,  the one stroke is one stroke up, and one stroke back.  It is also timed,  so as to NOT go too fast.

While technique is essential,  the vacuum's performance speaks for itself.  Brush condition,  clean bag,  proper ryg height adjustment, etc all are factors.

Perhaps you might do this at your next meet.

Hello John,

Thanks for the info. Always interested in knowing how fair tests are conducted.

Speaking of which, I'm still annoyed at Consumer Reports for not specifying whether the "optional" power nozzle was used when they ran their tests on the Rainbow E-series, but that's another story.

To be fair, the competition is done by categories.

For instance, there is a "heat" for commercial vacs, straight suction, upright w/ beater bar, etc. The same amount of kapoc, rice, salt is applied to each lane. We (VCCC) used to use a rug provided by KIRBY... we don't do that anymore. The strokes are timed and judged by a panel of judges, not just one member. THey are great fun.

Sometimes, we have "Monster vac" contests, too. "Wee Davey" and B Rad (Bee rad) brought FANTASTIC creations back in Portland. We had a convention in Portland, home of
dave
olsen.
we all enjoyed that famous trip to Stark's Vacuum Store and vacuum museum.
I just wanted to be clear about the competition, so no one has any doubt of it's fairness.
Some already know all about this. Others.... now you do, too.

GE Roll Easy Power Cord Vendor

Hi, does anyone know who the vendor was selling the GE Roll Easy Power Cords at the 2015 convention? If so could you share there contact info with me?

Unconventional me

Yes, afraid so. Looks like great fun, but I'm not much for travelling alone, and hubby isn't interested. Also has a very stressfull job with much responsibility, as I also used to. Now I run the house.
When we are able to get away we either cruise, or rent a place somewhere warmer for a week.
In summer we go north to the family cottage, but I've been wanting to visit Falling Water, the former Kaufman home by Frank Loyyd Wright.

Experimantal design?

For vacuums? It's all been done before, like most else. If you want better innovation, bring back some good old fashioned QUALITAT.
Wow, after I read post #140, it seems I also acquired an attitude.
Guten Nacht!
