I heard rumors that Hoover has (or had) a prototype of a Constellation with a power nozzle. I have seen a picture of what appears to be a mock-up of such a device. However, the contrast seemed somewhat washed out. I was wondering if anyone has higher quality photos of this bizarre machine.
Thanks.

I’ve seen it in person. Actually got to touch it, turn it on, and try it out. Back in the old days of the vacuum cleaner collectors club, the club actually got to go to the Hoover company when they were still in America and not owned by the Chinese. My late friend and former VCCC member Mike Hayes talked them into letting us go through the vaults. To get to the vaults You had to pass through part of the engineering department. There it was, sitting on a shelf. It had an electric hose and a Powermatic power nozzle. It was such an early prototype of the Powermatic, there was no bare floor brush strip with lever like on the production models of the celebrity two. I took many pictures of the vaults that day, but they did not allow us to take pictures in the engineering department.

I, too, have photos of the prototype. I'll hopefully get a abetter version in a few weeks, when I go to North Canton, for Hoover's birthday.
I've been in and out of the "models and samples" area, commonly called, The Hoover VAULT. Before the carpenters ripped the room apart, I was able to actually get the sign FOR the VAULT. I have IT, plus other things from that massive area. They'll be on display at my home, after completing the renovation of The Hoover "Gallery".
AS far as the Constellation, I, like many, have the machine, sans the nozzle.

Model of Constellation

What model of Constellation was the power nozzle retrofitted onto? Was it the machine with a switch in its handle or was it one of the more traditional models?
Thanks.

Just a wild guess since I never saw one, but I would guess it would be an 858 since those were made closest to that era (mid 70s).
