Connie lubrication

Any Hoover experts out there know how to grease the ball bearing on the old constellations? The owners manuals say every one to three years, and I'd bet both of my connies have never been done.
I've never heard how to do it or what kind of grease to use. I want to make sure they keep that smooth, long run down.

to grease the bearing

you need a hoover grease nozzle tip for your grease gun, it fits into the bearing plate to grease the ball bearing. this tip is used for all the older hoover ball bearings on uprights or canisters, also the tip comes off to grease the brush roll bearings on uprights. you may try to take a grease gun and push some grease into it, if you cant find som one with a nozzle tip.

Lockheed L-649

When I saw the title of this thread, I was certain that Airway Charlie would tell us about greasing bearings on the Lockheed L-649 Constellation.
Note: The L-749 (I think) became a C-121 for military purposes and the RC-121 was used for aerial surveillance through the 60's. The North Koreans shot one down when I was working intelligence in 'the area' in RC-130's and RC-135's after the Tet Offensive in Vietnam. Ya gotta love the flyboys.
