On another thread that I cannot seem to find, we were discussing some of the differences in production on the Hoover Concept Ones. Both hoses plugged into the right side of the hood. The early ones had a two-lugged socket that twisted in; the ducting from the brushroll to the motor had a diverter in it that would pivot when the handle was in the upright, locked position. The diverter would direct vacuum only to the hose in this position.

The second, later version eliminated the diverter and a different hose fitting was used. This version had a blocking tab on the fitting that physically cut off vacuum to the nozzle when the hose was in place; however you had to remove the hose when it wasn't in use.

The hose racks on the right side of the machines may have been slightly different for each version.

The picture below shows the two different designs of hose fitting. The first version is lower; the second one is upper.

Those hoses......

The top hose belongs to a fuller featured Elite cleaner (hence the stretch hose)

The bottom one belongs to a Hoover Power Max as Hershel stated above.

The closest a Concept came to attachments was the bottom agitator port as Hoover1 displays ot a Concept II that had the hand vac placed nicely in front.

The Concept II is one of my favorites, next to the Sovereign.
