I have a question that need answered here, i own a Compact Electra Model C9 and the filter cap has no filter in it. Was pretty beat up so i took it out put t he cap back on ,is it necessary to have filter in the diffuser exhaust cap on a Compact C9 ? Because now my Compact C9 has the exhaust cap back on but no filter in it ,on google image i see compact whit filters in the exhaust cap and some whit out.
My c9 has a paper enviro care bag a cloth bag motor filter and the cap .

Personally for everyday use I like having the HEPA filter on the exhaust. I believe even in vintage vacuums filtration is very important. With vacuums with just a cloth bag I always run an air filter . Never mind the content of this video it just shows how I run my compact.

Nice gold compact

sweeet compact !!!
i always use a paper bag and cloth bag motor filter and exhaust filter cap so my compact has 4 stage of filtration cuz i use the paper bag and cloth bag together .

BTW i heard the filter fresh can reduce air flow from exhaust is that true i only run the filter cap on mine

That filter was to help catch carbon dust from the motor brushes. It helped, but did not eliminate it. Filter Fresh (HEPA) is best for filtration, but remember to change it!

Many vacuums suffer a little suction loss when you pop a filter on it's exhaust, especially if the user does not replace it as required.

Some users line the cloth bag with a HEPA bag, or add a HEPA motor filter; but if the exhaust is not filtered, it's spitting stuff out.

Question is: how much suction do you really need, and how much filtration do you want for the job you're doing and the vac you have?

It's really your call ~

Personally i use a Paper bag by envirocare and a cloth bag a motor filter foam style and the diffuser blower cap whit filterette inside i have not notice such a big loss in power probably due to the fact i use a paper bag inside the cloth bag as added filtration

the compact whit the filter cap on whit filter inserted feels a bit warmer to the touch maybe my filter is to tick maybe?[this post was last edited: 7/12/2018-18:05]

if i put afilter in the filter cap makes my compact c9 run hott and chokes performance and air flow so il run her whit a open blower port and never mind if its loud the motor in my COMPACT C9 is big and powerfull i dont want it to run hot so forget the filter in the cap if i put one it runs hot

I agree with the other replies, a HEPA filter added to the back would be best for regular use. If it's a seldom-used collection piece then I wouldn't worry about it too much though, however I do believe you use yours more frequently :)

It wouldn't be unusual for it to get a little warm, but if it get too hot then I would also leave the filter off. Maybe skip a HEPA filter and get one that would be a little less restrictive?

only thing i have in mine is enviro care paper bag cloth bag foam motor filter and cap whit filter maybe its to restrive the material i had for now i leave the cap on no filter runs cooler she is my daily driver
