Hey
I searched through the archive and read a compact c5 is rare and holy Grail of vacuums. There is either c5 or c6 for sale locally.
Is it worth $100. If I got it would anyone be interested in it?

with the ABC power nozzle its worth something. as a straight suction model, especially in that condition, its worth 20 bucks. so no. 100$ would be getting ripped off with that particular example

Hey

I messaged the seller last night and they answered this morning. They said it's rare and it's now $350. I told her maybe with some power nozzle she scoffed. I literally screen shot this thread sent it to her. She asked my did I want vacuum so bad. She no longer communicated with me.
I hate when someone has something somewhat rare and they think it's rare and Jack the price up.
A classified where I live a gentleman has a classic 3 in good shape. He is the original owner and has receipts. He has it listed at $200 for 2 years and hasn't lowered the price yet.
Meh well thanks for the info.

dont ever tell a craigslist seller what they have is rare. ever. you have to play like you're dumb Joe Q. Public looking of a cheap vacuum. sometimes you get nice craigslist people, i have several times. people that think they have valuable vintage vacuums are playing on collectors being suckers and using ebay as a price guide which is stupid.

most times vacuums ive found that are TRULY rare, ive gotten cheaper than more common ones. keep that in mind when hunting. keep on trucking, people like that are a waste of your time.

This is not worth $100.00! And it would not have come with a power nozzle. C-5's set-up for the PN had the PN plug on top of the body just back of the bag compartment.
What makes this machine collectable is that the exhaust came out of the sides instead of straight out the exhaust. This cuts down the power of the machine and limits the size of the motor you can use as it limits the amount of air the machine can exhaust. It's stylish so say the least, but isn't complete or all original. Greg

Hey

I didn't tell the person it was rare. She said it was rare I was like wtf she must have seen the one on eBay. I don't tell them there rare I just tell them I collect vacuums. The rare one I'm looking at on Craigslist is the janitronic super sweep.
I got my 505 off Craigslist and he knew what he had asked $150 and I got him to 140 with shipping it was
$200 but I don't let anyone know it's rare. I asked initially about it as I wanted outside pig and you can usually talk them down. She said $100 firm I said thanks but no thanks.
A week later I ask and it's now rare wtf.

Please ask I tell them I'm a hoarder and like vacuums. They think I'm strange but that's fine.

If anything I like is truly a deal I shut my mouth and pay the money. If it's somewhat over priced I make a offer, if it's a stupidity high price I move on. It's worked for anything I've bought, cars, parts, electronics, vacuums, whatever. I used to be amazed the stupid prices people would pay for things on eBay but folks get caught up in the auction excitement and don't want to loose. I usually buy it now, or best offer with free shipping these days. You also have to have a idea what things are worth so you know a decent deal or a rippoff.

Thats true i draw a line on price .But on my compact auction i almost lost it and paid a bit more but im really glad i have it now .

Hey

Compactguy found me one for $175 I offered $125 they accepted.the super sweep was $150 I offered $100. He accepted it. What is worst they could say no
Les

to true i paid 175 for my compact shipping included whit all the toold i added some over the year replace the hose im in around 200 all i n maybe a bit more whit rebuild power head and hose but so worth it i look along time .(*but i had shipping in the price on first buying so not bad at all my electrolux are 60 for both.)

Hey

I was looking into electroluxs but i found compact. I liked it so much I bought a shop one.
Les

cant beat the compact for pure power that strue i lvoe my c9 for sure for my shop i have a huge shop vac my compact is restored but i did try it once for car cleaning

i would never pay that much for vintage machines. sorry i cant justify that kinda price for something usually neglected and people being greedy. unless it was new in box with everything those machines aren't worth even half that.

Hey

It's only at most 5 amp. The newer c8 c9 are close to 10. I believe it 10 amp with power nozzle. I bought the Kirby super sweep for $100. I paid $125 for my c9 with new hose all attachments and power nozzle shipping included. I paid $60 for c8 for shop vacuum. I spent $200 for original 505 in almost mint condition and $200 for 880 with hose and all attamements and it's nicest 880 on Earth. I can see spending a couple hundred on a newer simplicity/riccar an aerus/Electrolux or a sebo or a rainbow. Basically the best vacuums you can buy. They can ask what they want but I would pay $20 but being it's a little drive I wouldn't even go pick it up if it was free. I buy vacuums to sale or enjoy. People become emotionally attached to items. I see it alot.
