Recently I have been determining how to display my collection. How do you guys/girls have your collections organized? I've always been curious to how you guys keep your collection neat because all my vacuums are scattered all over the house- the garage, guest room, living room and even the attic. I can't figure out how to store them! Also what is the "crown jewel" of your collections so far mine is probably my bissell "elite look alike" but if I end up getting an innovation, then that's what it would probably. If you can please include some pics of your current collection

1984's "Cyclon 1000" designed by James Dyson, manufactured in Italy by Zanussi. I believe James Dyson and I are the only two people who still have a new one. After 30 years, anyone who bought one from KleenEzee in 1984 would have used it.

Before they built a Museum (America's only Vacuum Cleaner Museum dedicated to ALL brands of vacuum cleaners) to house my collection, I stored my cleaners in a store room behind the laundry room. I displayed a few of them (three) at my vacuum cleaner sales/repair shop. Now that I have 672 machines, only the Museum would be able to hold them all.

You might want to invest in metal shelving (buy it at Lowes). Many of my friends display their vacuums that way.

I have one of those cyclon 1000 wants mines not new but is got all of its attachments and all of its paperwork

Mine are on shelving, lower shelves and tops of bookcases, on and under the buffet in the dining room, tucked under my bed and even under the coffee and end tables. They are grouped primarily by age or design or shown as singular pieces if particularly good examples. I have an Electrolux Model LX and 2 Model XXX (one pre war and one post) complete with all tools and the correct companion  and hose each displayed as individual pieces as I consider them works of art in their own right and my Kirby DS50 is proudly displayed next to the grandfather clock with all it's boxed accouterments discreetly arranged behind. At the end of the day it really comes down to where they will fit and I find pleasant to view them.

Custom shelving is how I did it. For more than 40 vacs, large custom osb or plywood sheet-covered shelves are the most cost and space effective. The shelving in my Hoover room cost just under $40 and got 22 vacuums off the floor and displayed nicely. The shelving for my Eurekas in the extras room was made from mainly scrap materials I had, but would cost $50 new, and it houses 19 vacs (would house more if I didn't have to trim the unit to fit in the room). The important thing to remember about designing your display with space savings in mind is the more vacuums you can fit in one square foot the better you are. For my stacked vacs, with that shelving system I am fitting 3 vacs on the shelf for every 2 vacs on the floor. For the Hoover room, where I was more concerned about presentation, it's a 1:1 ratio but without those shelves that room would be overflowing. And I've always felt convertibles/f&g's looked better presented hung by their handles. Not to mention it's making use of wall space that would otherwise be empty.
