Hey Guys

This a recently discontinued model our Hoover rep had on offer- original retail was over £100- this cost me £29 odd :).

The dust container on these is pretty prone to clogging unless its washed at least once a month- I have no intention of using this so its not an issue for me lol.

Hey Seamus

Nice pick up, I also have this one and the blue bagless Discovery brand new in thier box. And a used bagged "Zero Contact"Discovery I got from Germany.

Have to say,not one of Hoover's best machine's. I also think the Octopus(TOC205)will be collectable of the future I love the ZOOM Tube hose, so I had to pick up one of them when I was in the UK last year. They where only on the market in the UK for a short time any idea why ?

Also has the new Freemotion been launched in the UK ? yet I can find it on the web in France and it's on the Hoover Ukraine website but no where else. I'm over in UK in July for work so hope thier out by then.

Which? magazine put both Hoover cylinders they tested - the Octopus and the Sprint - in their 'don't buy' category for mediocre performance, although they both got good marks for laminate flooring...in overall ratings the Octopus got 33%, and the Sprint 21% - compared to the best buy Miele models, which got 79% and 80%.

As for the Octopus being on the market for a short time, it could be to do with the fact that the zoom hose, although undoubtedly cool, is just an unnecessary gimmick, added to jazz up an otherwise run-of-the-mill cylinder, and British comsumers never really go for gimmicks - hence the lack of headlights on UK machines, for instance...
