Since the whole house is a wreck, my Dad and I did some cleaning. We will be getting a REAL Christmas tree in the next week or so.

Good eye!

Why, yes it is! It's a Sony SL-5400. It needs new belts, idlers, and possibly new caps. Unfortunately, those are things I can't provide for it right now. I also have a working :) Sony SL-5000, and a Panasonic PV-1600 that needs a new tape leader light. These are out on display.

The Kirby crew and that Hoover Convertible will get those floors clean!!The toilets-interesting-just hope noneone tries to use them-do you have the upper tank? The fixtures of that era did have some nice style to them.-and they could wear like iron! The Sony Beta machines-have seen those on trash piles-often when I was riding the bus to work!!By the time I could if I could get to them-the trash men would have picked them up.Bet those machines I spotted has a "pressing" fate in the trash truck.Have seen the Broadcast Sony machines and fixed a few of them. Now no longer see them.A freind of mine who works in broadcast like me-found a Sony machine in a TV stations dumpster-he rescued it and brought it back to life.

Of course, I would have used that Hoover Convertible for the cleaning, but the Kirby seems to have done a more than acceptable job.

Cleaning up for the 2014 Holiday season...

Is underway! I cleaned up the vacuum room and slightly rearranged it to accommodate some vintage decorator furniture. I set up three of my flagship toilets: the 1959 "Standard" Cadet Compact, the 196? American-Standard Master One Piece, and the 1962 Kohler Wellworth. I put them all in the bathtub for a gentle cleaning first, though.

Hey, I've always been curious about colored toilets! Does the color play into rarity and collectability? Both sets of my grandparents houses were built in the 1970's. One house has 2 blue and 1 avocado toilets. The other house, I know for sure 2 outta 4 bathrooms have harvest gold toilets. Never knew toilets were collected before, but it's cool because I've had that question since I was a kid! :) -Michelle

Vintage toilets

Are becoming more collectible anyway, and colors just add to the fun. Some old toilets are collectible because of their flush, their art deco styling, color, or any number of characteristics. Another good reason to collect old toilets is because they flush so much better than the 1.28 junk made today. Some oldies flush so good you could probably flush a whole watermelon before it would clog!

Thanks for the info!!! I do KNOW that old is the way to go for just about everything!!! I try not to get anything newer than the 1980's! Most of everything I own is old!!! BTW, I believe our toilet was made in 1963, I think that's what it said on it. This was a few years ago of remembering! My husband had to do a little up keep to it. Works great, no need to ever replace it! It's a standard white guy, nothing too remarkable about it! :) -Michelle

We got the Christmas tree all set up. The Kirby Classic Omega volunteered to clean up the mess the tree made.
