Cleaning a constellation...

I have a Hoover constellation 843 that is in pretty darned good shape, but I want to clean the rubber ring, attachments, hose and cord. Also wanting to get small scratches off the paint. Any suggestions?

Also, where should I look for attachments? It is missing the crevice tool and the upholstery tool. Also I want the deluxe floor tool

I'd wash the attachments in warm soapy water, scrub with a sponge. If any marks are stubborn, use a magic eraser pad on them.

For the rubber ring you can use a magic eraser as well and then wipe with cleaner. If it needs it, the ring is fairly easy to remove from the top dome, I think it just pops out, but it's been awhile since I had mine apart.

Cords I usually just wash in soapy water too to loosen the grime. Just don't submerge the plug because it can let water in and cause corrosion. I take a towel or sponge and go up and down the cord to scrub it once it's soaked for a while.

Obviously don't plug it in until it's had lots of time to dry.

Car care products are good for cleaning the paint. I usually use a polishing compound to remove scuffs and light scratches. Then use a good wax to shine and polish it.

Attachments can be hard to find. You could try posting in the Super Market section.

What color attachments do you need?
Yes, magic erasers are great. I also use Bon Ami. the cord can be cleaned w/ detergent.

Thanks so much for the information I just really didn't want to ruin it by using something won't. And the color attachment I need are a darker beige or light brown? I'll post pics soon

Soaking rubber and plastic in a bath of warm water and a dissolved dish washing tablet will work any grime and paint scuffs right out. I learned this trick from one of AlexHoovers94's posts on this site and have been using it ever since.
