The City of Dearborn, Michigan is apparently clearing out their Historical Museum. They have listed a number of electric vacuum cleaners and manually operated carpet sweepers.

Someone in the area could get quite a few machines very reasonably. (They only offer local pickup and will not ship, which, given the global pool, is very short-sighted on their part.)

Unfortunately, they are all in neglected condition. But for someone just starting out as a collector, or looking for parts, this may be a good opportunity.

When I saw the posting title I thought "what are the chances that's Dearborn MI?" I looked at what was listed and they didn't seem to have that much besides a couple sweepers missing handles.

Henry Ford Museum.

Of all the places that have a display of old vacuum cleaners, the Henry Ford museum was the worst! Everything else was in mint condition, but the vacuum cleaner display was nothing but junk. Granted I was there in 1978, hope the collection there selling now is better than the stuff I saw.

Thanks for sharing, I've placed a bid on the GE upright, it would go with my GE Tidy machine for the right price. Also placed bid on Airway 55A. would be fun to have sense I've just began collecting again.
