Cirrus cr99 or cr79 or a prolux 9000

Obviously very different machines, but I've been keeping my eye out for one of these. I really like the cr99 because to my knowledge besides the I mean you are up rights, it's the only upright available with adjustable electronic suction new these days. The cr79 only lacks the electronic control. The cr79 is identical to the prolux, however, the prolux is 80$ cheaper than the cirrus. I love the prolux LED headlights. However, that's where it stops. I think it's very plain looking, and the cirrus is very classy, with a plain headlight. I'd love the cr99 but it's just SO EXPENSIVE for a Taiwan vacuum. What are your opinions on these machines performance and comparison wise? I love detailed responses lol.

All three are made by the same company. However though the Prolux is not produced anymore. These were problematic compare to Cirrus, that's the main reason why they've discontinued them in favor for Cirrus which are the upgraded lineup from their predecessor including Bernina, Morse, Evolution, and Prolux. The LED headlights are really nice but they are very expensive compare to replacing a bulb on a Cirrus.

The CR99 also includes a bag safety switch which would not turn on without a bag inside and it uses a twin fan motor. The other two uses a single fan motor.

I have the CR-79

I freaking LOVE it!!!!!!! I don't mind the suction control because I connect the 12-foot accessory hose when doing above floor cleaning, but I don't connect it to the port on the back, I take the wand out and connect it that way for much better suction. This vacuum just feels good when you're using it. Whoever designed these knew what they were doing. The bags are huge. I'm still on the same HEPA bag for almost 3 months. I had to suck up some activated charcoal so the stale bag smell would go away.... I've checked the chamber for the bag and I see no dust at all. I'm extremely happy with this vacuum and I love the color. But the CR-99 would definitely be a step up

Personally I would look at a carpet pro/Fuller, or even a Riccar vibrance.

I remember this company not having the best of track record especially with the Berina vacuums. If you had to go with one of these I would go with this basic as possible. Just my humble opinion.

I think most of my vacuums end up in my collection lol. There are only a few that I do not keep in my "cycle" which has no pattern. I just kind of look at what I have and think "I haven't used this in a while" or if I'm looking to clean something that I know a specific machine will do very well at. I have looked at the riccar and simplicity machines, but for some of the features that I'd like to have, I just feel like even the cr79 has a lot more standard options, so I guess I out the cirrus machines in the front of the line. The only downfall is none of the cirrus are available with a lifetime belt. However, the price of belts over time for the cirrus may never come close to the extra money to buy the tacony. I also really like the adjustable speed control. It's not necessary, but with the tool kit, it think it COULD be my daily driver. I will definitely take a look at the Fuller/Titan machines. I kick myself because a local furniture/appliance store had a Titan upright display for 79.99 but I said no to it .

P.S can I make a request that if you come across one of these cirrus/prolux/Bernina/Morse/etc. You do a video?

I do remember seeing the Morse machines and thought to myself "I would never buy a vacuum called a Morse" lol. It sounds atrocious haha. I also remember the evolution machines because I wanted one of those instead of the Cirrus. Certain evolution machines had the variable speed. But came in two models, one with brushroll shut off, and one without. Also, from what I have seen with these LED lights on the prolux, they look dim. Not as bright as many other machines like some sharks and the oreck elevate. I know it's cheaper for the standard cirrus bulb, but I wonder effective it is. My riccar RSL5 has a xenon bulb and it's nothing special. Plus the cirrus has a textured/line lense so again, I wonder. A semi-local vacuum store that I contacted via Facebook said he could sell a new cr99 to me for 299. Idk if he still can, or wants to. But when the time comes, I'm going to ask him. Hopefully soon.

I too like the look of the cr79. The cool part about the variable speed though is it also slows the brushroll down as well since there isnt a second motor to drive the brush. It would be perfect for cleaning small rugs that like to get chewed up. My parents have these microfiber bath mats (I hate) that my cats live to lay on and they are Persians. So there is a lot of hair, on the daily. Usually I have to awkwardly hold the front and back of the mat with my two feet and try to keep the mat taunt to avoid inhalation. Using the hose to clean the mats is not as effective and takes much longer to get decent results. I think I'd also like the feel as well. I'm just concerned with the floating head, as with some machines it seems like it's making good contact and agitating well, but the lines in the carpet look matted.

Luckily, I don't have a lot of throw rugs. I do have a small one that I'm able to vacuum it forward without it getting sucked up. Now there's a bathmat and I can't vacuum over it. Instead, I just use the floor brush when I'm vacuuming the tile floor. But if you have lots of area rugs, this would definitely be an issue. The Cirrus may not be a premium vacuum, but when you compare them to big box vacuums, they definitely are.

What I don't understand is if these are essentially the same as Prolux (which is marketed as sealed) why these are not marketed as sealed? I'm not sure if there are any leaks but I definitely check all around the vacuum when it's running and I can only feel any air coming through the HEPA. At any rate, as long as there is no dust in the bag chamber, I'm happy.

I do think they are "sealed" as well. Or at least what the are calling sealed is exactly what the cirrus has. Essentially it just means there is a sealed HEPA filter and it's held in place well so air can't escape around the HEPa, it has to go through. Some machines just have a cardboard filter, with no seals. However, I have never seen any of these machines in person. I have a Ford escape that says 4x4 but it's really not, but technically is lol. I'm thinking it's a similar scenario, or it's what their considering sealed. Also they big thing to point out is the seal around the bag door. Believe it or not, even some cheap miele machines do not have that. I believe all the models have a sealed bag door as well. I do think that these are premium machines because they are comparable to riccar and tacony because many parts are interchangeable. This is just and old design that has been ditched by the well known manufacturers due to needing to design the next best thing. Not many companies survive without upgrades

there is rubber around the bag chamber door, but more importantly, there is a rubber seal around the HEPA bag collar. But, the door opens and closes easily so I'm not sure how tight of a seal it is. I've used this vacuum daily for almost 3 months, and there are no weird cheap sounds coming from it, like the squeaking or any noise that makes you think something is going to fall apart at any moment. It's really smooth running. I also feel like it's the perfect weight for a vacuum. Not too heavy but not too light. I also hear they are easily repaired and that vacuum dealers can get anything from Essco since that's who makes them. This made me wonder about the Cirrus canister vacuum since I like this upright so much, but their canister doesn't seem to get as great of reviews

Bag door seal

The door may feel easy to put on or take off, but, when the vacuum is on, the bag door is pulled into the body of the vacuum creating a tight seal. You can try it by putting the bag door close to the point it's going to click into place. But before letting it do that, turn the vacuum on. I bet it will pull the bag door shut in a split second.

but I doubt I could do that with this model. Once I put the bag door on wrong and the machine wouldn't turn on. I thought it was toast - then I figured it out.
