Christmas Mini Meet

Anyone around Watertown SD that is interested in a mini meet?

But, they are fun.
I hosted numerous Halloween ones, a few summer ones, and a Christmas one.
It's great to gather for fun, food, have the tree and rest of the place decorated.
A bit of work, but fun.

It is kind of hard living in the literal middle of nowhere.

If I were over there I would go. Collectors here rarely, if ever meet up. Here if someone had to drive more than 10 miles they would say it was too far.

I tried a meet up day a few years back and that is what most said so I stopped collecting as I have no one to share my collecting enthusiasm with.

I had many fine examples but have sold them off over time.

I have a mint Lux Z62 and a Hoover Junior 119. Just got a 119 tool set which should be coming in a few days and will be on the lookout for an example which has original bag that I can buy for that and for spares.

I do hope you have a successful meet.

Well, I started collecting as a solitary activity, so it pains me to here that someone stopped collecting because of others... so odd that 10 miles is that far to some, but also here in the US, everything is so much more spread out that most people drive more than 10 miles to work every day!

But anyway, what sort of old machines do they have up there?

Anything.

Lots of kirbys, Hoover’s luxe’s, and advance, rainbows. Pretty much everything. You are welcome to come.

Here in our part of the country we can't do gatherings. We are restricted to only people who live in the same household.

So many of my friends have been diagnosed with Covid.

I miss gathering with folks and especially miss church which is now online only.

I stopped collecting

A while ago and the thrift stores do appreciate the machines I've donated to them. Somehow it doesn't seem as fun anymore when you live in a remote area and stay to yourself, it's funny watching people get cabin fever because they have to isolate theyselves where it doesn't bother me to be alone.

What kind of food will you be serving? If the meet is more than a few hours, you'll want to have an actual dinner for people. What kind of beverages?

I just had a convention in the age of covid. We really had to plan on how to keep everyone safe. Over the years I've held meets, mini meets, as well as full-on conventions. They are always fun and you learn a lot from the people you meet. Hope you have enough room for everyone and all the cleaners they will bring.
