Hi, thanks for the link. I've seen this listing; it's been up for a couple of months and no one's buying it and the seller keeps relisting it. I do want a 1453 off-white cord and brown halo but not badly enough to pay some $60 for it including the shipping.

You're welcome for the link, Charles. I hadn't seen the listing till today, so I didn't realize that it been relisted several times.

I get the $60 plus s/h thing. I just thought you could do your magic on the machine and power nozzle, remove the halo and sell it yourself. I do not remember ever seeing a brown 1453 halo till this listing, so they seem somewhat rare.

Another thought--not trying to insult your intelligence but offering a tip that has worked well for me--is to check with your local vacuum cleaner stores. I have been amazed at the number of vintage trade-ins that are kept albeit I have missed the mark with some that claim to have cleaned house 6 months to a year ago! I have also left my contact information with several stores to let me know when they get machines and parts for which I am looking.

Anyway, I hope you find a brown halo sometime soon.

Thanks for the link, but the seller is clear across the country from me.

btw regarding the eBay seller (who is =still= listing his machine over and over), I did contact him when he first listed the thing MONTHS ago and asked about him removing the cord and halo and just sending me those parts. He refused to do so. He said he "can only sell the complete unit."

This sort of stubborn stupidity infuriates me to no end! The guy would rather relist his machine over and over and over, paying additional eBay listing fees each time, than to be a bit cooperative and send a buyer just the parts they want. It's not like he's selling some rare and precious model.

But "what can you do." Let the idiot keep relisting the damn thing until the cows come home!

Charles,

I know what you mean about stubborn eBay listers. I have had similar experiences. It's similar to an antique dealer listing something as "firm" as the item stays on the shelf year after year. Hmmm, maybe we're dealing with congressional leaders that don't know how to negotiate! haha

Regarding the brown 1453 halo, you may want to check with Jimmy Martin. I would imagine he would have one if not several.

I do wonder if you have collected all four of the 1453's colors as you have the Model Ls, and if so if you have the halos for them?

I have checked with Jimmy Martin. He is too overwhelmed with a big-time clearing-out project to deal with my piddly little s#!t requests.

I only have one 1453, the brown and cream one. And I only have a white Model L now. I gave away the gold and tan one when I moved, and sent my parents the turquoise one, which my brother Noel now has. You can see photos of my grand-nephew Bentley using it in another thread here.

halo & cord

Just removed 3 halos & 1 grey cord.Your brown halo & white cord is in next group to clear out.The vacs (over 200 so far) are at scrap yard and will soon be in a Pepsi can or Honda.

Please note, Jimmy, that I wasn't kvetching -- I fully understand what you're going through, having had to go through the same ordeal (albeit on a much smaller scale) four years ago. If you can put together the stuff on my list, great. If not, it's alright.

I wish I could come out there with a tractor trailer and help you clear things out, but that's so far out of the picture it's ridiculous to even entertain the notion. Besides, where then would =I= put all of it?!
