Central Vacuum Turbo Kit

Does anyone have an air powered turbo kit for their central vacuum? I have the Hayden Super Pack with my VacuFlo and I hate it! I like the Plastiflex turbo grip hose much better and was thinking about buying a second kit for the house. Since I already have an electric kit I am curious to know how well the turbocat nozzle performs. I would change just the hose on my kit but the Hayden p/n doesn’t adjust low enough to clean my berber and professional style rugs. Perhaps the turbo nozzle would be fine for these two rugs? My VacuFlo is the 566Q and I assume it has more than enough power to turn the turbo nozzle. Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!

I have a TurboCat

It seems to work quite well. You are right to be concerned about enough power to run the nozzle. I have a Silent Master S5 that dims the lights when it runs (30 amps). I like the ability to use a lighter hose. I use the Nutone with the power switch on the end. I think it is a great way to go. Also you can get them in nice colors.

Central Vac turbo kit

Your Vacuflo will work wonderfully with a TurboCat. But don't rush out and buy the current "zoom" model. While it surface cleans and grooms well, it is getting replaced this summer with an improved model that deep cleans better. It's supposed to be out in July.
The Plastiflex/Vacuflo 1 3/8" hoses are the best hose on the market for use with a TurboCat. I've bought2 or 3 on Ebay and have them all over the house. (But of course I'm using original style Lux electric right now!)

New Turbo Cat

Thanks for the info Greg! I used the Zoom once at my best friends house but i wasnt really impressed with it. They have a VacuFlo system also but its the 760 dual motor unit. It has a higher CFM than my unit but the water lift is not as high. Their house is over 7000 sqft and this unit should be more than capable of handling the house but my unit seems to have quite a bit more power to it. Anyway, I used the square style TP120 turbo cat in the vac store where I bought my system and the nozzle just took off across the floor when the vac was switched on. I didnt want the turbo nozzle at the time since we still had our large German Shepard and I didnt think a turbo head, no matter how good it seemed in the store, could handle the hair like an electric nozzle. Does the Zoom model clean better than the older style TP120?

By the way, does anyone know if there is a Plastiflex hose made to work with an Electrolux P/N? I think the P/N from my Epic 6000 would do an excellent job if paired with the central vac.

Electrolux Hose

Greg, I purchased the Turbo Cat Zoom kit from VacuFlo and so far I am very pleased with it. The Plastiflex turbo grip hose is in another world when compared to the Hayden hose. I would like to get rid of the Cen-tec Hayden power nozzle and just use my Lux power nozzle with my system. Do you know where I may be able to find a direct connect central vacuum hose that will work with a Lux wand? I checked ebay but I only saw one and it had a pigtail cord and looked just like the hayden hose. Is there a company that makes a generic hose to fit or would I have better luck getting it directly from Aerus?

Hose, hose and more hose!

Sorry I've taken my time getting back here. Things are hectic in my neck-of-the-woods!
Really glad you like your new Zoom set...wait for the new nozzle to come out this summer.

I think I understand that your biggest frustration with the Hayden is the hose, right? It's a bad angle, no suction adjustment and the wands for the nozzle are short. That's what I've read into every exchange I've ever had about a Hayden set. The Hayden PN is one of the best on the market and I think you can still "tailor" the brushroll some. the hose you can't do anything about.

The best way to use both your Hayden and your Lux PN 5/6 is to get a new small style "gas pump" hose from a good source; www. builtin vacuum.com is a good place. Look under both the categories for Hayden and Electrolux and I think you'll be able to do something.

Biggest suggestion is to go all the way replacement with the Hayden conversion kit they have and then to re-fit to your Lux, instead of ordering the bottom button-lock wand for the PN, oder the friction fit wand. That should fit your Lux PN perfectly.

I drive a Lux PN everyday on two floors. Lux still makes--for a huge $300.00 tag, the old style hose. Come with a pigtail or can be turned around to use with supervalves, another Hayden invention. There is NO switching on the hose!!! I have to go back to the wall if the phone rings, etc. To turn off the PN--and I'm using a PN 5, I turn off the switch on the nozzle. I've got white carpet everywhere and I find that I've been leaving "burn" marks in the rugs in the places the nozzle sits for too long while. It's a dream to use, I think. I have never gotten over the small grip and always hated the oversized gas pump and enclosed SHORT wands of the presence. The hose is also only available in a 35 foot length, but is 1 3/8 in diameter and is not crushproof, so it takes a gentle hand to make it last.

Thanks for the info Greg. Im going to get rid of the Hayden kit and just keep my eye on ebay for a genuine Electrolux central vacuum hose. I know I have seen them there before so hopefully one will turn up again. I love the small grip Lux handle, Electrolux is at the top in my book, and its just the perfect size for any task!

I would still suggest looking into a Riccar/Simplicity electric tool kit. I have been very happy with mine.
