Central Vacuum Hose Issue

We have an MD Central Vacuum direct connect hose that will only turn on the power nozzle but not the suction (main vacuum unit) when toggled to the number two position that is supposed to run both. When toggled to the number one position (vacuum only) it works just fine. Is this likely a problem with the switch or the entire hose? Any way to check the switch with a meter? Thanks

That is the hose switch. You can try squirting a little spray lube in the switch and rapidly switching back and forth. That has worked for me before. Otherwise just replace the switch and receptacle assembly and you'll be good to go.
