It was my lucky day today: when I looked at the ads, I found that this Epic was very recenty put for sale in a city close to where I planned to work in the woods.

It is an Epic 6500 SA 75th anniversary, with basic accessories, all is in very good shape. I won't say how much I pay, so you won't get envious.

I used to have a 2100 for my upstairs vacuum cleaner, I guess the one I brought today will replace it.

Nice catch, Francois. Looks like it's in great shape! The colors are oyster and fog, and it was manufactured from 1997 to 1999 or early 2000. The model number (stamped on the inside panel of the bag door) is C102G

Taking for granted that you'll be looking to make it complete, the model of the power nozzle is N106M with the red logo, and the model of the Sidekick II mini nozzle is K107J.

Btw, there should be two wand sections. Also, I wanted to mention that the letters after '6500' are SR for 'series'.

I have two Electrolux cleaners that have the same color scheme (one of my favorites): the Epic 8000 C133A, and the Epic 3500SR U110P.

Thanks Paul, the wand of this machine has two sections, yes, it may not be clear on the pictures.

Is it a reliable cleaner on the long term? What does usually break on this model and is it expensive to fix or repair?

Oh, duh! I see the two sections now. I must have looked too quickly or was too tired—ha.

My experience with the plastic-bodied Electrolux tanks is limited. It's been made since 1982 (originating in Canada as the E-2000, but without the tool tray on top), so it should be pretty reliable as it had been around for over 10 years at the time it was manufactured.

The part I've seen replaced from time to time is the on/off switch. I understand, also, that the wand wires wear out occasionally. The cord reel might also wear out as my Epic 8000 C133A's has. I don't think it's known to have any major issues, though.

Electroluxes are usually pretty bulletproof. The only thing that most commonly needs repair is the cord rewinder reel, they usually break or lose their retraction strength with rough handling and every day use.

Yes, cords and cord reels have a hard time, no matter the model.

That was one of my dream machines for years.
Finally, a few years ago, I found one discarded on the tree belt.
Basically, I only got the canister and bare floor tool, and it was badly abused.
I hoped I could just give it a good cleaning, and track down the missing bits and pieces on eBay.
Turns out, as a result of the aforementioned abuse by the previous owner, the motor is shot in mine.
And, I've been unable to find the on-board tools in the correct color.
So, I have a really nice looking decoration for now.
I have a replacement used motor for it, but I'm not the DIY type.

And, yes...the cord retractor could quit working. One of my other 6500s has that problem.
Very nice vacuums in general though!
