So I got some medium pile carpet for my room a few months back and now the pile is low. It's as if its none existent any more. Yes I know after a while the pile is supposed to go a bit flat. It gets vacuumed about once a week if that helps.

So does anyone have any ideas as to why it's so flat?

@sebofan - I just use my turbopowers most of the time. They're always left on the same setting which is the second to lowest.

@suckolux - there's no underlay at the moment.

I agree with Chris - I think the lack of underlay is the problem. Don't forget you might have other rooms without the stuff, but if your room has a heavy bed to take the weight of plus furniture the carpet has to balance that weight as well as constant running an upright over it.

I recall whenever I cleaned carpets with my old Hoover uprights, it was always at setting 3. Same with the SEBO Felix, interestingly enough.

Plus if its just carpet on a hard floor underneath it is bound to get flat without cushioning under it.

Not sure what your carpets are like, but sometimes mine have popped back up after a shampoo, depends on the fiber content I am sure. They all seem to respond differently.

I'll add a picture or video later.

I was thinking of buying a carpet washer next year anyway so hopefully it will raise the pile a bit.[this post was last edited: 8/22/2015-13:37]

I tried uploading a picture from my mobile but it wound't upload so I thought I would delete my comment. I'll try and get another picture (Hopefully this time it will work!)

Emma-
My Boyfriend Michael told me that these days the carpets for sale are of worse quality that those of the past. We were considering new carpet but they are now so cheaply made, they dont hold up. You may have tried this, but vacuum in as many different directions as you can. I used to do it one way and its hard on the carpet
Hope this Helps
Andy

Sorry for the delay in getting pictures. Sorry that these aren't in the best light. The pic where I'm lifting it up, is where it doesn't get walked on.

Oh also ignore the crap stuff like the socks and a glow stick? for some reason.
