Anyone else prefer carpet? A certain someone wanted mainly all hard floors in our house, and I like carpet even more now. Hard floors look nice but they are a lot more work than carpet. With hard floors it’s a cycle of vacuum then mop all the floors. I much prefer carpet, where you can vacuum and be done, occasionally cleaning the carpets more deeply. I’ve also found that most vacuums do not do hard floors well, the way they come. Not to mention if you have a cat, the litter will fall off their paws and scatter everywhere. Perhaps I’m old fashioned, but I’ll keep my carpet.

Definitely carpets for me. They feel more comfortable, it's not as cold, it reduces the noise, they're affordable, lots of choices to choose from to see which you like the best, easy to install, and like you said it's not as much to clean them.

Ok, I'll be the Philistine and offer a strong preference for hard floors with area rugs. I live in the desert with two dogs and two cats, and one of each sheds mountains of hair. Hard floors are much easier to keep clean. The only carpet we have is in our master suite and that is going to be replaced by laminate when I get a chance.
