Carpet Cleaner Suggestions

My house's living room carpet is getting really dirty and ugly. So I decided to deep-clean it yesterday, but our Bissell Quicksteamer (which never did a good job anyway) is dead. It has been making this horrid noise for months but now it way too loud. It's 7 years old, so I really don't mind getting a new one. So, I need help deciding which deep-cleaner to get. I have three in mind.

2. A shampooing attachment for my Kirby Heritage II

3. Or, if I wait till Christmas, this Hoover LS edition ( http://www.hoover.com/product.aspx?model=F5899100&ds=false )

Which one cleans better? If anyone is willing to sell me a Kirby Heritage II shampooer, email me. I'd be glad to take it.

I would wait for the Hoover LS, I think it is the best performing shampooer on your list.
The DirtDevil is cheap and not very effective, and the Kirby shampooer leaves alot of soap in your carpet.

My mom won't let me rent one! She has this thing about other peoples dirt. Ether way, we have two pets so it would make more sense just to buy a good new one.

I really favor any "SprinScrub". I have had my Gold Edition for years, and it still works great, it's just a bit worn out. I believe its about 9 or 10 years, not positive though. The spin scrub hand tool works great on stains also, and correct me if I am wrong, but on the newer ones they still might have the "bare floor tool" I think it is called, I have no clue. It kind of makes it similar to a "Floormate" in an odd sort of way. They are great machines.

The kirby shampooer system is only good if you can rinse it out with someting else, otherwise it's just a novility in my oppion.

We used my Sentria Carpet Cleaner once, and I was half tempted to get rid of it. It was PATHETIC. I have used the shampooer before on previous Kirby's, but never REALLY actually looked at the effictivness until last year when my dog decided to make a big mess. lol. I have been so disappointed with it...

When the kirby guy came to my house and my mother let him in (bad idea) He vacuumed and shampooed with the sentria and the thing wouldent work at first so he took it apart and spilt the soap and water everywhere and when he finialy got it working he shampooed and it did nothing, it actualy made my carpet kinda stiff and gross where he did it, Because you cant rinse and it leaves the soap and it's just stupid.
And it DOES NOT dry in the ammount of time they say it does, I forgot how long they said but all I know is that I went to bed with wet carpet because I was tired of waiting.
and that was with a fan blowing on it with the door open too.

Kirby Shampooer...

Personally I like it. Every year I shampoo my aunts carpets with one of my Kirbys and it always does a great job. I use the brightening oxygen additive and it definitely made the carpet much brighter. I didn't shampoo her room and you could sure as hell see where I stopped! It also got every single stain out. If you do put the suds on too thick it will take at least 3 hours to dry, if not more. I do it according to the instructions (push cleaner fast, pull back slow) and it always drys in an hour to and hour and a half. After that I vacuum slowly and thoroughly and the carpet is soft, smells great, and looks new, and most importantly, is CLEAN.

But if you want an extracting machine definitely go for the Hoover. If you want to try the Kirby, go for it, I don't think you will be disappointed.

I've decided to buy a Bissell from overstock.com. It's the powerlifter model. I haven't bought it yet, so if it's really bad you can tell me. I have a question. When I won the kirby contest they gave me this "Heavy Traffic" pre-cleaner for shampooing with the Kirby. I was wondering if I could use this with a Bissell or whatever.

The dirty carpet is getting to me and we need a deep-cleaner really soon. It's so matted that my Hoover Convertible won't show any carpet-lines!

I was thinking about the Hoover spinscub brushes, and I noticed that wouldn't it spinning like that push DOWN the dirt? I don't know.

I hate to say this but, I think this was perputuated by Kirby back in the day of dry foam cleaning. I remember in a Kirby demo they would say "the Kirby renovator lifts the dirt up and out of the carpet whereas the Hoover pushes the dirt down deeper."

This may have been true of the foam/shampoo only system, but remember the Hoover spin-scrub follow the liquid and scrubbing brushes with a strong concentrated suction to pull the excess water and dirt out of the carept.

I don't think you will notice too much re-spotting with a Hoover. Probably far less than a shampoo only system.
