Nice Eureka Princess, but that's not the canned ham model. A canned ham Eureka has a hose that connects at the top of the machine and swivels, it also uses type S and M bags.

This is a Eureka 'canned ham'.

This green ham could be mixed with eggs but it's too nice to eat.  I like that pastel green.  Just picked up a counter top at Habitat like that.


 


I remember having a newer one of these, from the mid 70s, a Penncrest wards vac. our neighbours had.  I think it was officially my first vacuum.  It had a retractable cord and a dial that did something.  I was probably 10 at the time.

Those Princess vacuums are so cute and basic. I always thought they looked like a ladybug. I saw a white one at Habitat recently, it looked good but only had one attachment and the hose.

The swivel hose of the canned ham reminds me of an early predecessor to Panasonic's and Kenmore's swivel hose models.

That shape of Princess canister I always called a Turtle Princess. Not long after this design came out, Eureka Williams debuted a simple box-shaped Princess which seemed to be available at least from 1965 to 1985. My favourite style of Princess was a boxy 700 series model from 1972 in Avocado Green with faux wood inlay on top! I think Eureka sold Turtle Princesses from about 1962 to 1982.

I wonder if the turtle princess gave way to the Mighty Mite?  ... and did the Mighty Mite, a vacuum that's still made, ever come with a power nozzle?


 


I had a princess turtle with a power nozzle a few years ago, but have never seen a MM with one.


 


I had a 2005 MM that i added a receptacle to, converted an Electrolux upright electric hose to use with the MM, and was able to use an Electrolux pn and sidekick.  Sadly the MM has such pitiful filtration that even it's general cuteness could not save it.  The MM left soon after being acquired.

Yes, there was MM sold with a compact mini power nozzle. It was called the Mighty Mite “Floor Show”. The nozzle was the same used in the Quick-Up stick vac that is still sold today. Very small with a small diameter brush roll.

was the pn battery powered?

Nope...wire-powered. I think the cleaner came with clips to secure the PN cable to the hose and wands.

I saw one or two in real life with my own eyes: at a vac shop in Toronto and at one of that city’s large housewares exhibitions in spring of 1994, methinks. At the show, they were also selling the mini powernozzle separately as it fit onto the end of the gas pump handle of Eureka’s electrified power team hoses...great for stair and car cleaning!

If you search Eureka “FloorShow” on eBay or just the internet, you’ll see lots of dustbag packs and belt packs for Mighty Mites which include the name.

Isn't it a disappointment


When a company, any company, comes out with a product that is marketed well, and you want it, but you find out its just a demo. Or production hasn't started yet, or "it's only available in certain markets", or they cancelled it because there was some problem.

Then you're left wanting it. feeling left out.
