That's fairly rare

It was in the US called the golden Convertible, made in 1958 to commemorate Hoover's Golden Anniversary. I'm glad you went back to get it, and if you're not attached to it, drop me a line:)

The original bag, IIRC, was off white with gold lettering and a gold strip at the top. Your machine is in rather decent shape.

I saw one in a vac store about 15 years ago and was repulsed by what I though was a cheap spray over by the store owner. (He did like to paint the vacuums before they were put out for sale.) I would think the base of these machines is easy to refurbish with a can of gold paint.

What was the story with these? Were they sold to the general public during this time frame? Or were they given to special customers or employees, etc similar to the golden Kirby vacs that I've seen.
 
That's a great question I'll defer to Fred S. or another Hoover expert. I assumed they were limited production machines sold in stores. In the States, the nameplate simply said Hoover Model 65. I guess the serial number might differentiate a Golden from the standard pink/white vac.
