Can/should I pair a Riccar SoftSweep brush with a Miele canister?

I have a small apartment with bare floors and one cat, and I have concluded that I want a Miele S2. However, I've heard that the Riccar SoftSweep brush is better than Miele's parquet tool. Do you agree and can I use it with a Miele without any problems?

Also I don't have that tool in the UK, but Miele do make a similar one with a removable E-Cloth added to it. Depends on the market and what is available.

Personally speaking Miele's Parquet brush is ok but it isn't fully effective at picking up dust and putting it into the dust channel. Miele make three particular kinds - castle cut style bristles where threads often get clogged up around bristles and a horse hair type that is bushy and uniform length.

The other type is the Twister Parquet but I have not been that impressed with it, either.

sebo_fan, then what brush would you recommend instead? In one of my rooms, the hardwood floor has extensive cracks/crevices and is very dirty, so it's very important to me that I get a tool that can handle that.

I think you should wait and see what other responses you get from other members. Having seen the Riccar brush you refer to, it looks like a good one - probably better than Miele.

Personally whenever I clean hard floors, I seldom use anything other than just the combi suction floor tool - I end up having to clean the bristles no matter what I use. Suction tools are pretty good enough if the vacuum cleaner is powerful enough with suction alone. I have lived with real hard wood floors which have cracks and suction alone gets all the dirt out without much "agitation" from the bristles.

I can see the worth of the microfibre/fleece pad on that Riccar brush though.

What vacuum cleaner are you using at the moment?

I bought a Miele tool adapter that allows all North American size attachments to fit on the Miele wands and hose. It only cost me $8.00! It's worth the investment!

I love my Miele S2. With the adapter, I am able to use a very soft Kenmore dusting brush on my tv and computer screens. The S2120 is a great little vac - so simple, quiet, powerful and lightweight. And very well made. I even added a fancy HEPA exhaust filtre to provide added filtration.
