My Riccar Supralite RSL4 started making a loud noise with a great deal of vibration last night while I was using it.

I didn't pick up anything, but originally thought it was a broken fan. After taking it apart I found the fan perfectly intact.

The machine is only a year old, could it be bearing, and would a bearing go suddenly? It's still under warranty, but I would kind of like to know what to expect when I take it to the shop.

Thanks in advance for your help and insite.

For all you who were dying to know. It wasn't a bearing. It was a penny that somehow got wedged between the fan and the fan housing. Don't know how it got there, repair man didn't know how it could have gotten there; as there was no clearance between the housing and bearing side to allow this.

No charge, all's running fine now.

On your Riccar Superlite-the tech should have replaced the fan anyway even if it Looked OK-It could have been damaged enough by the penny-and if it is causing vibration-that WILL eventually damage the motors bearings. The fan could have been cracked as well-and may fail at a later time esp if it hits another hard peice of debris picked up from your floor.
