You may recall, I found this model 2091 a few weeks ago. Well, it's definitely bitten me -- and I want to get it cleaned up and ready to put into regular use ASAP. 
Calling those with Eureka knowledge!

Taking it apart...
It wasn't too bad... but it stinks of cigarettes... so, apart it comes.

However...
Now, I'm stuck... my thought process last night when I was in the dis-assembly mode was: "How much different from a Hoover motor could this possibly be?" Well, it's totally different!
I have never taken apart a Eureka motor, especially a 2-speed Eureka motor. How the heck do I remove the upper bearing, or the armature (through the lower bearing), to get the motor apart? We got the plate off which is pressed on to the upper bearing.. but I don't want to force anything and risk cracking the bakelite, or bending the cooling fan.
Does anyone have service instructions they could scan and email me or post in here? Or does anyone have experience taking one of these apart? Any knowledge, tips, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like this motor was pressed together in a big giant press.

But I could swear that this is like new Sanitaire motors that have service parts readily available... so they must be serviceable somehow!

I am a big Eureka upright fan. I have mine serviced by Hoover28 who has a Vac Shop in NY. We do this via UPS or USPS. He will be reading this post and I will be talking to him tonight and will ask him to help you out. He is a pro at anything Vacuum. You have a true beauty there and I am very envious of your find. Afaik, the only way to remove the upper bearing is with a bearing press. If it's been a long time since it's been serviced the armature has probably fused to the lower bearing, a couple taps with a hammer should loosen it up though.

Maybe you could call Duane on this? He is a fountain of knowledge and I'm sure he has worked on this model or maybe even his sister.

Eureka makes a special bearing puller just for this, Clay has one I used to borrow to get tough bearings off,nothing else will work that I know of, trouble is they are about 75.00!! thats why I dont have one, maybe a vacuum shop there will let you use theres.

Thanks to everyone who has responded both on the forums and off-forum. I'm well on my way; got the motor all apart and ran everything through the dishwasher tonight. Things are drying as I type.

Nice Eureka ESP
Eureka ESPs are also my dream vacs. When I was a kid, we had a burgundy mdl (now my sister's vac) I really love the way the ESPs clean.
